Comments (12)Thorny branches are a good idea. Gardener's supply used to sell these small mat-like things with spikes on them that did the same thing, you could try their website. Actually, I bought some spiked mats from Drs. Foster and Smith pet supply website to keep the dogs off the furniture and they work great! So check the pet supply store, too. But if you have rose or barberry branches available, those would accomplish the same thing and are free, so I'd go that route first, if available. Or, let the dog out. Personally, I'd love to see my dog go after the neighbor's cat, worth the price of admission (this cat has a habit of teasing my dog while she's out on the line - that smart-*ss cat knows exactly how far that line reaches and will stand about 6" away from it and hiss and tease the dog - if I weren't on good terms with my neighbor that cat would be toast by now...)...See Morecat using garden as litter box

There are photos of one person's solution. The garden mesh mentioned in this thread works pretty well and is non-toxic. Chicken wire also works, but shows through the mulch a little more easily. Comments (15)I thought that was a hobby!! :D I would agree with elly_nj. As far as I understand it, many little pees might indicate an infection. But generally each animal is different. I tend to monitor for change once I know what's normal for each kitty in my life. I have one boy that likes to hold on til he leaves a cluster the size of my head (almost) in the litter box because he prefers to pee outside. My other guy will visit to box 3 or 4 times with moderate piles left behind every time. But it's worth a trip to the vet if you see any straining to pee, or if it's just going to keep you up at night. There's also that litter that's designed to change colour if there is infection present in the urine. Has anyone tried it? Does it work?? G'luck Lisa...See MoreCat suddenly not using litter box
Comments (4)Could you lock the cats out of the office until Micah feels better? That would give you time to get the odor out of that area. I'm unfamiliar with the Blue Buffalo Wilderness cat food you are trying. It may be a good one. I look for food with no artificial food coloring or preservatives, and pass on those with cornmeal as the first ingredient. Wet food makes constipation less likely -- is your new food canned or dry? A raw diet is probably healthiest, but I'm not knowledgeable about raw feeding for cats. Innova, Royal Canin and Evo are brands we have had good luck with, all from the pet store, not the grocery store. I hope you got some insights from the Manx discussion link in my previous post. (I miss my Manx boys, but hope I will see Butch and Bosco in kitty heaven some day.) (We have some experts here, and I hope they'll chime in too, but of the cats I've had in my adulthood, the shortest-lived made it to 14 and the oldest to 22, so I may know a little bit about taking care of kitties.)...See Morecalliope
