The duck pictured is actually from 1920's and before....even though they said otherwise. and I have to wonder if, someday, that Hobby Lobby carp will attain the stature of early Barbies and Disney stuff. BUT grab any cut paper picture you see for $25 or less. Old or not...it's still individually made art. I have a bunch ( maybe 10 or 12) cut paper pictures, none as old as yours, most from the 1920's and some newer....but all hand cut paper. Scherenschnitte is another sort of cut paper picture. Here is a link that might be useful: Scherenschnitte

Thanks, everyone, for keeping this link active with comments. I just washed 6 Sillouettes, 23 years old, using the Bissell Green Machine in 2 hours. Two of us working together. Plastic tarp taped about 3/4 way up window and onto the floor to catch water Left the shades on the windows, veins closed. For the backside, just lift the shade outward and up and stand underneath to run machine along the shade. Washed the shade in sections from the top then went back from the top to do another dry suction, one side at a time. Open the veins, might need a little shaking to loosen them, to dry. Dries in 2 hours. if you already have the machine, it is easier than taking them off for washing. Used Dawn dish soap mixed with water. It’s hard to see the before/after difference in pictures because of the lighting and shading but the suctioned water was black! Bugs in the veins - when extended and veins open, tip shades sideways and shake. Skewer with gauze wrapped around it might work but be gentle. Bugs were gone after washing.

Yes, it is cut, but it's the white paper that's cut with the black paper underneath and then the hair and clothes details are drawn on. So it's the white paper that's cut but not the black. And no, no signature. The frame looks old (but hey the 20s/30s are old) and I've not wanted to take it apart fearing that it may be fragile if it is really old. If you would take it apart the black paper would be separate and then you would have the cutout piece for the head and chest with the collar in between.

If the budget for HD is not there I’d highly recommend getting a “sample shade” made for your smallest window. That’s what we did for our powder room and… decided against going the sheer shades for the rest of the house. Not because of the quality, but because I just didn’t like how much light they blocked when fully open. Had we ordered all the shades for all windows at once it would have been a very expensive mistake. In my experience Vista (they make private label products for blinds.com, Comfort Blinds etc) and Comfortex are good quality mid-price products. Both are owned by Hunter Douglas. Also Norman is a little more expensive and they have some neat technologies. I have been much happier with all of the above compared to the Bali shades that we have in a couple of rooms, that is the only manufacturer I’ve used that I would not recommend.
