My first attempt at macro

Recently purchased a new Sony DSC H-5....I have lots and lots to learn, and more lens' to buy, but for now, I'm pretty happy with these. Joan did the cropping for me on the second one...

No additional lens at all. I just put the camera on macro setting and got real close and shot the pictures! It's amazing to think that this beautiful little world exists during the rainy season and most of the time it just goes unnoticed!

Murraysmom, there's room for both you and Terri! FYI, if you do use this recipe (others call for pudding mix, etc), you do use almost the whole can of coconut milk. There's an ounce or two in a little container in the frig left over. Maybe 1/2 and 1/2 isn't required, but I use it in my coffee so I always have it on hand. Butter and cornstarch, no problem, cornstarch is a great thickener for chinese type sauces. But I'm sure there are other recipes that are just as good, with the ingredients you have on hand.

Looking good Conny! I also have 5 white mini from Ko seeds. They really are slow. Mine germinated 2 weeks ago, but they look like they just lost the seed-capsule. xD But I don't mind that they take some time. Really like the way yours look like! :-)

Thank you all! Maria Elena: it is a flat graft, under the node. I couldn't get the right humid conditions on the plant/graft as the plants are kept indoors (too cold outside) so for that purpose there was no reason to keep the plastic on it any longer. As I used flexible superglue the scion was already well stuck to the plant's branch. I unwrapped the other 2 grafts as well. One came off instantly, clearly not glued properly, I assume because both scion and rootstock were too thin. The 3rd graft however has stuck and looks well too: We'll see what happens to them in the next few weeks. After all, it was just a first attempt. I also stuck some of the cuttings of the old plant in pure perlite at the same time. Again, hard to keep my curiosity from taking them out to see if there's any roots developing yet, but I must. They show no signs of dying on me yet.

Now , THAT'S the kind of macros I want to take. That is very good. But how in the world do you keep the clarity and sharpness after the photo is compressed for posting?

gmom74....I have no idea how to answer your question...LOL! Could be that this new camera is just that wonderful? I didn't do any compressing...just posted it to Photobucket and they automatically do whatever and then posted it here.

That is one nice macro shot, and I have seen a lot of them. I don't think I have ever seen one with more clarity than that. It's stunning.
