Grayentropy - what kind of fungus do you believe this to be? There are hundreds if not thousands of smaller webs that look exactly like a classic spider web. Would this be a fungus? The pictures I've seen of fungus-based webs - the webs look more "fuzzy" stuff growing on the grass - these are more a flat, definite web. When I asked about this in the original post - it never occured to me that this would be a fungus. I've always heard of sod webworm and wondered what that was - I thought maybe this was it. But doesn't sound like it. Bergenjersey (by the way I grew up in Ramsey) - I think you're right - I went back out mid afternoon after the dew dried up and the webs, while still there, were basically invisible. So I'm thinking this is some sort of spider, I'm going to assume harmless, and keep an eye on it. If spider, I'm also thinking that these could help to keep the mosquito population down. I suppose anything helps. Thanks!

Hi Ingrid - the wires are spaced about every four bricks and run through 'vine eyes' that are driven or screwed into the mortar about every six or eight feet, and hold the wire a few inches from the surface. That way the taut wires follow the line of the mortar and are pretty much invisible. If you intend to cover an entire wall it is best to wire it properly before you start :) The rose canes are tied neatly to the wires with green jute twine. This will only last a season or two, but that is good as it makes you think about pruning and re-tying each year :) Hope this helps. Thanks for your kind comments.

Unfortunately, that's not happening for me. :( The music is on everything I click. I cannot keep my speakers off because I have work that needs to be done and I need to know when emails come in (I have that "you've got mail" alarm that I can hear anywhere in the house. Therefore, I have to close off GW when not in use ...which is a quick look. Can anyone tell me how to block the music? I am going to start a new thread about the painting since I am not getting any responses. hahaha The good news is that I am liking the garage doors better this morning. The plastic paint shields have been taken off, hardware re-installed and the shutters are going up. When all done, I will post before and after picks of the house. The back of my house with new pergola and screened porch are also being painted. I'll probably wait and post one big thread of the new transformation of my exterior. :)

Try again. We can't see stuff you have on your computer. You have to upload it to a photo sharing site.
