Would this bed be too big for my Master Bedroom?

Hi

I am about to buy this bed made by Stanley furniture today. I am looking for a craftsman style bed and could not find anything else I liked in my local furniture stores. Don't want to buy it online because of delivery charges and putting it together. Our new construction house has mostly craftsman/ transitional details. The height if the bedroom is 8 ft and it has a small tray ceiling. The height of the bed is 67.25 inches. It is going to be a king size bed. I have looked at in person a couple of weeks ago and now I don't remember the scale.

This one's height is 60 inches. I know that I don't want to overpower the room by the bed but I do like the first one better.

Please help me make a decision. I need to order it today because of the sale going on in my local store.

I love the Pottery barn hudson bed but I will have to end up paying shipping and carrying it to my upstairs bedroom all by myself and it would still be more than what I will pay for the first one. This will be $1799 +150

To me, the floorpan seems to make sense as it is. You could extend the bath slightly into the bedroom to give you a longer countertop space, about where the wall of bedroom2 runs, but you need to know if that works with your bedroom furniture. You could also slide the shower over to the back part of your closet, accessed from the shorter end, to slide to toilet down and have more countertop. It depends on your priorities.

I like it, however I think the loveseat at the foot of the bed doesn't work. it's a warm gray,,number 1, and 2, it's too large. this type of sofa works w/the bed. here's a dark gray wall room w/plenty of texture and prints, or what about one like this? notice the nightstands, pillows, bench and rug Your small light over the bed? seems too small. do you have any art? to go below it? everything in that room is solid. you need some print and some other color bigger night stands in a wood like your floor, or a white or a gray would be fine. like this. same color gray, but w/texture/pattern, warm wood, it comes to life I'd try a nice light, maybe some like these drapes over the smaller windows proper size for a bench. but notice the textures and prints in an otherwise very neutral room lastly, pillows, throws, linen, lighting, some mirrors, art, all in the same shade of grays.

Guessing the window is there for curb appeal on the front façade. Have you drawn a mock up to see what that would look like? Sky light /solar tubes add TONS of natural light!! Gotta wonder who the architect was and if it would be cheaper to move the closet so the window is part of the room, than mess with outside walls!!

You would need to post a picture of the bed for any kind of meaningful response. That said, I have an upholstered bed frame and have a retro chaise lounge in my bedroom. But that doesn't really tell you what it looks like unless I posted pictures. 🤷🏼‍♀️

A blank slate is always a challenge to work with. It is hard to say as you've given no measurements other than the height of the headboard. I'd suggest you measure everything out and draw out in graph paper if you don't have a software design tool at hand. Include everything you wish to put in your room, whether planned or existing furniture.

While the bed looks massive you also need to factor in the height of the mattress and boxspring as well as your vision for your room. What can be very helpful is to look at design magazines to find an inspiration of what you want your room to look like and work towards that.

I'm always a sucker for a good sale, but as my DH always tells me, there is always another sale and don't be rushed into purchasing something just because the sale is "ending today." It may end up being a most expensive mistake if you are not sure of your choice.

What are the dimensions of your bedroom? That matters as much or more than the ceiling height. I think that 1st bed can work in a room with an 8 foot ceiling, but it depends on the room dimensions for a king size bed.

Thanks to you all for your suggestions. The size of the bedrrom is 17X15. 17' is the length and 15' is the width. The dimensions of the first bed are:
Depth: 85.50"
Height: 67.25"
Width: 64.50"

The second bed's dimensions are:
Depth: 90.00"
Height: 60.00"
Width: 79.50"
