Wow you're pretty much describing the kitchen that we are in the process of doing right now. My cabinet stain is peppercorn brown/black, bianco antico granite, and we are doing santos mahogany hardwoods. I'm sorry I can't help you in the tile selection but have you decided on a backsplash? That's the one thing I'm really stuck on.

I have BA, but have a dark cork floor. If I were doing a tile I know how wrong this is....but I think a marble would look great. So, what about a marble look-alike? Calacatta Porcelain tile, or something like that? I like things that sparkle with my BA, that is why I think about marble--even though it itself isn't sparkly it goes with "sparkly".

Here is a floor (originally on Maria Killam's Colour Me Happy Blog), but who knows...Hollywood could have used something like a vinyl tile to get this look:

Or if you prefer a darker look, maybe one of the tiles that looks like wood. Those are gorgeous. I have my eye on those for an upstairs bathroom.

Beekeeperswife: thanks so much for the info! I love the idea of the marble look floor, but do you think it will be hard to keep clean? The darker tiles seem to hide a lot of dirt :)

beddiek, I just looked at those lights. I seem to remember seeing them when I was hunting for a chandy for my foyer. I think they are very nice. The pattern reminds me of a certain backsplash that I'm quite fond of .... ;)

And, my thoughts on a white floor--probably shows dirt, but so does my dark brown floor. My floor shows all the dust, dust bunnies, anything light colored. Even though you can't see the dirt, it is still there. You could probably use a grout and sealer that would prevent the grout from getting dirty looking. I guess it depends on how much you clean.
