Which fabric should I choose?

Hi there! I think I found the fabric that I want for my LR and DR after weeks of searching. Which one should I choose? Keep in mind that my DR is red and only has one set of windows, so it's kinda dark unless I open the blinds. Thanks.

I think the darker, more golden one would be better. The difference in color between the two won't make that much difference, if any, as to how much light the room gets, but the darker color seems to have the visual 'weight' to balance the wall color of the DR and the heavy furniture of the LR.

I would see if you can have some wall sconces installed in the DR, or find other ways to bring in more lighting. Is there space on the wall across from the windows to hang a large mirror to bounce light around the room? Have you considered a reflective metallic finish in a warmer golden tone for the DR ceiling, instead of the stark white? Could you add mirrors to the back of the china cabinet to add more light reflection? Have you considered a different chandelier that puts out light into the room, rather than sending it all to the ceiling?

I like the darker more gold fabric also. The lighter fabric seems to disappear in the LR.

Funny, I do actually have two leather chairs in there now. It looks great as a formal lr, but I can't seem to make the arrangement work for watching tv. Right now the tv is against the wall behind the two chairs. So you have to view the tv between the chairs. It isn't horrible, but because the sofa is so small only 2 people can really watch the tv at a time. The chairs aren't really that comfy anyway for tv watching. So I was thinking of rearranging the room so that the tv could be seem from either the couch or new loveseat and move one of those chairs into the bedroom and leave the other one. I've written about my strange lr arrangement problem before. Here is a link to that posting. My lr has been rearranged since that last post. Now the couch is centered in front of the window (but away from it, not against) and the chairs are on the other side of the fireplace facing the couch. Let me know what you think. First of all you only tarp whats really needed these roofing companies get paid by the square footage of tarp they use so there going to use as much as they can second the tarp should be put under the shingles approx 2 rows above the damage and use the least amount of nails to support tarp i cut off what excess of tarp you dint really need with a few nails above cut line you can use felt paper under shingles with nail holes and use roofing caulking to secure shingles

Here is a tiny half bath (former closet) where we did an inexpensive update. The previous sink and toilet were too large for the room and the walls were rough and damaged. I added shiplap made the from flooring underlay, a couple of $5 rolls of wallpaper and a shallow vanity on clearance. . biggest expense was a small round front Toto toilet. Big improvement, I think, and if someone wants to change it later it won't be difficult or expensive. The old room was so dingy and awkward to use that I discouraged guests from using it. Now it's cheerful and I smile when I go in there. Do what you like!

First of all, your kitchen is absolutely beautiful, and from the looks of it, so is the rest of the house, so congratulations on your new home!!! If you're going to do wallpaper in the kitchen, go for something more dramatic than a white or gray miniprint. Kitchens don't have too many plain walls, so you can afford to do something more interesting--perhaps a historical print like a Jacobean or hand-painted floral. Check out Schumacher and Thibaut for beautiful wallpapers. Choosing between various whites is very tricky because they can look different in different rooms/houses and in different lighting conditions. Both White Dove and Simply White are in the yellow hue family so it's possible that either of them can look yellow-ish. I happen to think that yellowish whites look great in colonial homes so I wouldn't think it's a problem. In fact I tried White Dove in my colonial home and it was way too stark and white, and I went with my tried and true Linen White. However, in my sunporch White Dove looks warm and inviting. Go figure. In your photo, white dove looks much grayer, but it's possible that it does not look like that in person. The only way you can really tell how a color will look is to test out a large sample in your room and view it at different times of the day and night. Personally I think that either color will be fine in your house, and you don't have to use the exact same color throughout the house if you don't like the way it appears in a particular room.

Thank you, Les. I'm leaning towards the dark gold fabric.
I'm also in a mission to find sconces and a mirror for the opposite wall in the DR. That's the advise they game in another decorating board. Great minds think alike- You and them!

Good tip on the downlight chandelier! I never even thought of changing the chandelier.

I don't know about the ceiling...my husband would never paint a ceiling. He said it's too hard...complain,complain.

Another vote for the golden fabric. It is beautiful! A chanelier will be wonderful in there as Les suggested.What design of window coverings are you thinking about?

I'm just going to do panels, and for the smaller window in the LR, I'll order a pattern from pate-meadow. That's the plan for now...
You're right kmgc. The lighter (coffee) fabric is almost the same shade as the wall color. Plus I think the dark gold looks scrumptious:)
