I have also been there as a side trip from Myrtle. It's a really nice place, but I hope it wasn't hit to hard by hurricanes last year to ruin it. I coulnt even go last year because we were evacuated. I might see you there depending on when you go, I'll be going next Saturday(16th I think) in the morning and maybe once sometime in the week. Matt

Peppi, here is what Camille came up with: If they want some real good bar food....like French dips, Philly Cheese steak, burgers, etc......gotta go to Oscars!!! it is the best. Great sports bar if they are into that too. For a very nice dinner and always wonderful place.....Thoroughbreds is the place to go....just wonderful.....great steaks or anything on the menu is fantastic....great wine list....can't go wrong. Still one of my favs.....went there in January!! Bovines in Murrells Inlet is great too......we used to go there a lot when I lived there. The Mayor's House in Pawleys...since they will be down there anyway.....is always great. For seafood also try Preston's in North MB......always a good choice. A great place to hang out have a cocktail and shoot an oyster or two....Bimini's Oyster Bar and seafood. for breakfast....Plantation Pancake house is the deal.....I think there are two of them.....the Spanish omelet with the plantation potatoes is to die for. If they are going to order pizza to be delivered......California pizza is great and you can go to any of their 3 locations too. If they want something specific.....email me back. Hope this helps. I live about 4 hours from Myrtle Beach; we go there every year or two. There is a family-run hole in the wall restaurant on Main street in NORTH Myrtle Beach (that's a few miles north of MB itself), a few blocks from the ocean, called Hoskins. Very simple, no alcohol, but it has some of the best fresh seafood simply prepared, that I have ever eaten (and I'll be the first to admit I'm a snob when it comes to seafood). Scallops were incredibly sweet. And if you have a free afternoon drive down another 18-20 miles and check out Brookgreen Gardens. Been to both, and been to VA Beach lots of times. For your needs, you don't want VA Beach--it's a prime hang out beach for college students. Not a lot of partying on the beach, but the main streets and some hotels can get raucus. Until we had kids, I greatly enjoyed VA Beach more than any of the others (Ocean City, Rehoboth, etc.). Now our needs are changing. To the Californians: This is the Atlantic. Beaches are completely different here. VA Beach actually has more waves than many of the other beaches because of it's location (at mouth of Cheaseapeake Bay). But it's not big surf country--that's why people go to CA to surf. The Atlantic is much rougher than the Pacific, but out on the ocean, not near the beaches (though there are exceptions). And it's neither dirty nor run down--it's just a resort town like most of the middle class resort towns on the mid Atlantic (they are all starting to look too much alike in my opinion). There are other types of beaches, like the Outer Banks (and Martha's Vineyard, I'm told) that are more about the beach and less about the beach attractions.
