Personally, although the warm sienna is beautiful, I think that a sage green always looks great with oak cabinets...and it would pick up the "dots" on the pillows....go up or down the color chart and pick a color that is on the same card for the hallways. This is such a "neutral" color, it works with everything. Nice house...hope it works out well for you...and glad you are taking down the blue shades.

I don't see the Warm Sienna working with the wood in those two rooms.

Hi Emily! I like the Warm Sienna but, I personally think a color in the green family goes best with wood tones in the oak family. To me, reds and oranges make oak cabinets and floors appear much more orangey. I love colors like SW Svelte Sage and SW Bamboo Shoots to name a few. My next favorite color to go with oak is a warm yellow, like SW Blond or BM Monroe Bisque. These are just a few of the greens and yellows that would work. Are you at all considering painting your cabinets?

Thanks for all the input so far. Am on my mobile, so will post more later...but changing the cabinet colors isn't in the budget for the forseeable future.

Also, should have mentioned that the owners pulled the appliances. We'll replace with stainless. and the carpet in the LR will be a subtly two tone grey frisee.

You're all confirming my fear about the warm sienna with the oak...

In that kitchen the sienna would make the room - one big orange space. How about a mustard or gold if you do not want green?

I second the green. I just painted a powder room with an oak vanity similar to the shade of your kitchen cabs. The color was SW Austere Gray and it's gorgeous with the oak.

Don't be turned off by the name of the color. It's more green than gray, but it's such a lovely shade of green - not too yellow, not too blue - very soft and sophisticated.

I used the SW Duration matte and the surface looks like velvet when dry. It's a very durable paint for heavy use places like kitchens.

I probably wouldn't have stumbled onto the Austere Gray except for the fact that I was looking for a green that wasn't too yellow and wasn't too blue. I mixed some remnants of Grassland (more yellow) and Comfort Gray (more blue) together and I loved the resulting color. It was a perfect match to the Austere Gray.

Thanks again for all the input. I think threedgrad nailed it - it could be one ugly orange mess with the Warm Sienna, although I do like the color.

I have an old SW deck, and have pulled some of the colors suggested above - I'll look tomorrow in the daylight to see how they play with the carpet and fabric.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I went and looked at even more paint today, but focused on the greens and golds. Was getting somewhat discouraged...then found Saybrook Sage which looks like it could be perfect. Works surprisingly well with the fabric, should look nice with the floors and cabinets, isn't too green for DH (not his favorite color), will look nice with the navy jerseys framed in gold that will almost definitely end up on the walls. Also looks very nice with BM Frostline - the paint that I had picked for trim. (Have always used Dove White in the past, but it doesn't work with the purples to my eye.)

Next challenge is finding paint for the hallways...any suggestions there are welcome too!

I agree with everyone else. I have very similar cabinets and anything in the orange/reds just never worked and turned them even more orange.
I agree that green would work best. I finally went with LA Olive 2 and love it with my cabs not to mention it is still very nuetral. Another great green is BM Camouflage and would look nice in your living room.

randita, could you take photo's for us to see? I haven't heard of that color before and would love to see it on the walls. Thanks

Brutuses, work on adjoining room is still in progress with the powder room serving as paint supply repository for the time being, but I'll take pix as soon as I'm able.

Oh, I really like the color you chose! I think it will look fantastic with your cabinetry. Here are a few inspiration colors I have saved. I don't know who some of them belong to but I do know a couple belong to the awesome folks here at GW for sure! Here ya go....

Laurie, those are ALL BM's Saybrook Sage. I just don't know who they all belong to.
