I have a Walbro carburetor on my 18hp briggs. I bought a rebuild kit and removed all accessible items from the carb except for the float valve seat which was a brass press in style. I had read on another forum that one way to get it out was to use a self-taping screw to tread into the sleeve and then use a crow bar to engage the top of the screw and leverage the sleeve out. I happen to have some screws left over from a metal building project and after cutting the drill tip off, I slowly threaded the screw into the sleeve. Got it in about 1/4" before it got pretty tight so decided to try the crowbar. Used about 20 lbs on a three foot bar to pop it out. Worked great. Motor runs like a new one.

ladylotus Z3/4 Thanks so much. I just downloaded the manual for my camera. My husband wants to read it. He's the techno-nut here. If there's a hidden macro setting he'll find it. I built a website using Netscape composer in the past and uploaded it without a problem. But I had Bellsouth then and they gave free webspace with the account. It was drag and drop the files - every easy. Not all ISPs supply you with space. My first one was 17 pages with loads of pics. It took ages to make. I'm not even sure if my new ISP gives us space. If so I may make another website one of these days.

I expect you are the person who I talked to some time ago about this. I have an engine with the spring I THINK you are talking about but I do not have a digital camera to take a picture of it. I thought I would have by this time. In your current thread about this, you said it came from the choke area. There is no spring associated with the choke on this engine. As it says, it is a throttle return spring and will run just fine with out it, maybe not idle down as quickly or as far. If you look in the intermediate linkage area, you will see a flat arm sticking out horizontally then bent on the very end and there is a hole in the bent end. That is where one end of the spring attaches. IF you get that, I think you can see where the other end goes. IF I happen to get access to a digital camera, I will still send a picture. Gonzer, I also hardly ever use the zoom function on my camera. When I want to 'blow up' something, like a tillandsia flower, I just bring the camera to almost on the subject with the lens as little as 2 or 3 cm away. Then the camera is still able to focus perfectly. To do it this way, you need bright light, the flash is useless so close. If you want to do it at night, then stand a bit back, zoom in and take the picture. But then sometimes the subject is so small that the camera focusses on the surround in stead of on the small flower - even with the 'spot focus' turned on. This is just how taking pictures works best for me! Japie
