Thanks to both of you for your responses. Good thing I have 2 other varieties going; one we direct sowed from seed and the other, we got as plants from a different nursery. I'm going to assume the ones that are bolting need to head to the composter?

I read you answer to my question and took action immediately. I removed the trees from their two gallon plastic containers right at the edge of the holes I had dug for them in my yard. Using large tin snips I cut across from one drainage hole to the other on the lower edge of the pot. Then I cut straight down the pot from top to bottom and opened up that area of the pot like a book. That let me get my two hands around the entire dirt ball and removed it directly into the planting hole. Never disturbed the roots one bit. I made sure that the soil was damp. We have been having cloudy and drizzly weather for 3 days and it may last for two more days. This may help the trees in catching. They where plenty use to sun and the wind. I placed screening around them as well. I also placed composted old grass clippings around the top of the holes I dug. I have to apply something to protect the bark on the trunks. Thanks Lou

Jamie My guess is that they are too dry. Their root have been growing in a pot and are still in that shape so they suck up all the water in that space. The moss basket dries out quickly and they should be watered more. I am guessing the vines may have been in longer and may not be showing the problem that the Impatiens have. Plus the vine is more woody and can take drying out more anyway.

I've been taking this last Arctic front in stride. I knew this was highly likely. But now I'm not so easy going about it. Grandson and I just moved everything back in the garage. I'm looking over my beds and telling my impatience that I'm sorry...just do the best you can. Then I see............................... My peony! I planted that thing over 7 years ago. It comes back every year but never has flowered. ;( But I knew when I planted, it was real iffy here. THERE IS A BUD ON HER!!!!! I think later today, I'll water her good, wrap her in newspaper and a towel, then put a pot over her. Maybe, just maybe she'll thank me. Ya think?
