short answer ... yes .... go to the hosta library .... above the first pic of a plant.. is myhosta.net link.. hit it.. usually you can find the heritage of a plant... mom and dad ... and trace back thru the generations... and you will find that there are something like 20 species.. and they all come up at differing times ... so.. its all in the genes ... some extremely early .. some late.. most in the middle.. and a few weirdos like montana [discussed above] that come up.. go figure on this.. early and late... which never seemed right to me... something wrong with that logic ... or .. in the alternative... just accept the simple answer .. YES!! have a great day .... its crummy here .. cold and rainy.. and dont get me wrong.. that is a mile beyond snow and ice.. lol ... ken

"Times may have changed since I was young, but men haven't" Sorry, but that simply isn't true. No, I am not male, but I three brothers and many male friends, and almost all of them feel the "man is supposed to make the moves" rule is unfair and puts too much pressure on them, and they are thrilled when a woman takes the initiative to call them. Of course, I mean a woman they're interested in, they're not anymore thrilled than I am to hear from someone they really don't want to see again. If he is interested, he'll probably like it that you called. If he's not interested, he's not gonna call you anyway, so you have nothing to lose by trying. I believe it's probably different in Blueheron and Daisy's age groups (you're both retired, right?), and certainly I have no experience with men of that age so I am not in a position to question them on that point, but in my generation (30's) and younger, men as well as women certainly have changed in their expectations. Sure, there are young people of both genders who still want the "traditional" gender roles, but for the most part that is no longer the case.

I have often wondered what ken’s background is, because he knows about all things plant (hosta, perennials, trees,.....) He was married at one point, I assume, because he talks about “the kids and having a house.” I have always imagined he is a retired professor of horticulture, botany, and dendrology (study of trees). But he has never replied when I asked him ===>> maybe he will answer you......I hope so. :-) debra

Hi everyone!! Not sure how many of you are still following this post that commented, but wanted to let you all know that I have officially paid off all of my student loan debt!!! Woo-hoo!!! I took advantage of the 0% interest and became really aggressive with getting down the balance. I’m in limbo with buying a home because of this terrible market for buyers, so I’ve decided to continue to hold off until the market starts to settle and just continue to put money in savings. Also, I’ve been in Atlanta for more than 10years and I’m not sure if this is where I want to purchase a home. I’m going to take some time to sort that out. My dream has always been to experience living some where in Southern California but sigh — cost of living. Anyways, just wanted to let you all know I crossed that major milestone!!!
