Beng, in '85 TN experienced it's overall coldest temps since records started being kept. In mid-TN, Nashville fell to -17F, Cannon County where I live fell to -28F. That spring there were no blooms on the redbuds, dogwoods, or native deciduous azaleas. Mimosas, crape myrtles, photinias, boxwoods, Asian hollies, native blackberries, Japanese honeysuckle and kudzu were killed to the ground. Magnolia grandiflora were defoliated and some suffered wood loss and a very few were killed outright. In '89, temps again came close but did not equal '85, that was the year that pushed citrus in FL below Orlando. Interestingly, most native stuff, including stuff native to farther south of here (mags, loblollies, longleaf pine) suffered relatively little damage. I suspect the genes for cold hardiness are present in much of the native flora, indicating a possible much colder past. Over all, the out of season warm weather and then Jan-like temps of March-April of '07 did WAY more damage, some of which is still visible today.

I've taken a few night shots too with old camera and look forward to trying it with this one. The macro with this camera is 150 cm (W) (0.4 in.Â1.6 ft. (W)). I was right down on the flowers. There is a lot to read in these manuals, I just plod along and practice. It's a learning experience and a fun one at that. treefrog ~ I've also tried to capture the color of the blue sage with old camera and never could. There are a couple of roses I had the same trouble with, so I hope they come out truer with this new camera as the blue sage did. Evelyn ~ You are so right about picture taking being addicting, almost as addicting as some flowers are. : -) Ambersky ~ I looked up what you thought the purple unknown might be and I'm not sure. Someone else told me something else and that didn't quite look right either. I'll try to get out tomorrow to take a picture of leaves and flowers so you all can see the whole thing. And now for the rest of the story (please tell me Im not the only person on this board old enough to remember Paul Harvey) Well, your responses got my friend thinking. So, he called his agent this afternoon. He apologized for losing his temper. He told her he understood that she had to parse the marketing budget carefully. After all, the property could sell in a week or a year. So, he offered to have his marketing folk get extra copies of the brochure printed at his expense and that he would later deduct the amount from her commission at cost. He said that, after a very long pause, she agreed that it might be wiser to print more high-quality brochures for the OHs and that she would be very pleased to take care of that herself. He asked me to pass along his thankssaid he may become our newest lurker.
