'Blue Angels' of the US NAVY

I need everyone's opinion on these pictures. Some of them my brother took, some I took and we are arguing as to which two are the best.

I am not a critic and certainly not a pro, but I really like the 3rd picture, it shows for sure what we are viewing and no clouds for distraction. IMHO

Heck, Don, what's another hosta more or less among friends? Go for it. But I was listening to your reason to make another choice. if they HAD been alike....my candidate for one that would also be different from Blue Angel. And that is Clear Fork River Valley. It is far removed from the sophisticated graces of Blue Angel, with its orderly tailored look. It is rough, Rambo with a three day beard, fast growing, apparently slug proof, a rather roundish leaf instead of the pair of blue angel wings. If you check the Hosta Library, the color of mine is like the 3d picture from the top, decidedly a blue tint. Nothing smooth about it. Crinkled up as much as broccoli! And mine is entering its 2nd year here in this picture. So. yeah, if Blue Umbrellas had been just like Blue Angel, ........ So....why not get Clear Fork River Valley too? Have all three. You know what they say about good things coming in threes....

Leafwatcher, It's hard to know for sure how he did it, since Florence's daughter is in her mid-80s and is unable to let us know the specifics of how Aden "acquired" the plants from Florence's garden. But we know that Aden showed up in Weston after Florence died in June of 1975. He left with a number of plants. He could have talked the daughter into giving him those plants or he could have dug them up without permission. There are stories of him having done that in other gardens. In either case in 1976 Aden registered a number of plants in his name that others specifically recall having first seen in Florence's Birchwood Garden in Weston, MA. Hi, I did my bathroom is a very dark blue. I used a tinted primer (4oz of black in a gallon) and two coats was almost perfect. That's w/a roller, obviously. Brush would be much less satisfactory. The paint was eggshell, BTW. With semigloss, I would recommend "doubling up", putting on a second coat while the first coat is still sticky; it eliminates the general feeling that you are trying to paint glass. The paint does need to be set up for the double coat, and the first coat has to be put on not too thick. In general, I'd say to give the first coat 4-5 hours before the doubling coat. This trick can only be pulled once, however; the next coats, if needed, will have to go over a thoroughly dry surface, or you greatly increase the risk of blistering/pulling. And there's some risk involved anyway, if your prep/priming was lacking. The primer must be hard dry. Casey

I didn't start this post, but WOW! Thanks! I JUST got home from buying an old, small buffet and was thinking how nice it would look in either a creamy white or the navy blue from this post! I think I'll go with the navy.

The second photo would be a great shot, but the jets weren't completely captured in the photo.

The positioning of the jets in the fourth photo is better than in the third photo. By positioning, I mean in relation to one another, but also with the slant, it gives the impression of take-off and/or going faster.

The third photo, however, is a nice 'clean' photo, as mentioned above.

The first photo is also a great shot of how close and evenly these pilots fly even at high speeds.

So, having said all of this, I will have to choose between the first and third photo, although all have their good points, in my opinion, of course.

I am leaning a bit toward the third photo, since you can actually read the writing on the underside of the wings, which makes a statement.

Just My Opinion...Beauty is in the eye of the....well, you know...
