Pics of her today. She has many buds and foliage to rival any Kordes rose. We have rain all the time and she has perfect health. She could go in the ground now, but Ill enjoy her in a pot until Fall. Ill be sure to post when these buds open. I wish someone else grew her. Her growth habit and HMF suggest a tall plant with typical HM growth habit so I wonder if she can be trained as a climber or is best left natural as a tall arching bush. I wish I had taken note of her at FreedomGardens, but my DH spied her in the For Sale section before leaving. Ill have to get there earlier next year. Please click to see detail in all pics.

Saw many reports of Lady Emma being virused from David Austin, or else follks received the wrong roses instead of Lady Emma from David Austin. A friend in CA wrore to me this week: " We haven't had Lady Emma Hamilton long, but she's been quite floriferous and has non-stopped bloomed since we got her. We got her from Regan Nursery in Fremont, CA and the tag indicates the stock came from Otto & Sons. Hopefully Lady Emma stays healthy and vigorous." Lady Emma was released in 2005, which means the patent will expire in 2025. Today I contacted a friend nearby who grows Lady Emma (he bought as own-root from Roses Unlimited many years ago), and he said I can come by next spring and dig it up. I'm rooting non-virused & healthy Austin rose when the patent expires to donate money to charities. Versigny is better than Lady Emma since it has more petals and last longer in the vase, up to 5 days. It's small & compact for the pot: My Versigny bush was 2' x 1.5, very compact, it died after a few years in my zone 5a. I got it from Roses Unlimited. The scent is better than Pat Austin, and I miss its apricot and floral scent.

@librarian_gardner_8b_pnw You have highlighted so well here the difference between LEH and LOS with those pictures! The latter just doesn't have enough of that orange-pink variation. It looks closer to a flat orange to me. The combined pink-orange effect of LEH makes it glow in a way that no other does. I really have a LEH obsession now but it is probably wise to revisit in the fall to see if she'll get out there again. I even sent an inquiry to DA to ask whether they will bring her back any time soon. I like CL but it just doesn't seem to have enough of that glowy salmon pink. This one too seems to turn to a rather flat orange most of the times although I have seen it with some blotches of pink when aged. But no, not LEH.
