vanity crown molding vs. ceiling crown molding
Comments (1)You can attack it from a couple of different angles... If the crown is all the same, then you can consider it all "room crown", and you can then paint it all creamy white. I have seen instances where the crown is all the same and the color simply transitions to blue at the soffit-to-cabinet crown miters. Your choice. I prefer to make the two crowns different though, making the cabinet crown smaller than the room crown. With the cabinet crown minor to the more major room crown, cope the cabinet crown to butt into the room crown. Paint the room crown white and the cabinet crown blue. Much depends on the size and styles of the crowns, etc, how they meet up, how they relate, etc. But it really boils down to your personal preference. The good news? It's only paint. Comments (12)Only other thing I can suggest is, if you know you want window treatments, you can have them box out the crown to leave space behind for the window treatment. I did this in my kitchen so the valance is on a tension rod and it gets tucked up and under the molding which sits about 3" from the wall. So the molding itself becomes the "valance". You can see the gap here, before the kitchen was finished. If you wanted to do that, you might want to make the box wider if you want side panels. Comments (3)Your room is lovely. With your traditional trim and crown molding, you could add a wooden valence box to hide the hardware. I would prefer draperies or Roman shades over shutters in your room. Much softer and you can still enjoy your view. Comments (2)Depends on the style of the home but I usually use Sherwin Williams trim paint as it comes- it is just a clean classic white (that can always be matched since it is off the shelf) I have satin trim and matte walls....See Morexc60
