I mainly use Jiffy pellets the last few years to do rhizomatous begonias by leaf wedges. Canes cannot be started by a leaf though. Some Asian species cane-looking begonias can be started by a leaf such as brevirimosa and amphioxus. I started six Silver Queen wedges (one leaf) in Mid-November and this is what they looked like two weeks ago. I think 3 starters would be ample for this 10 inch pot. I started Mrs. Ludwig early this month and this shows some with roots two weeks later. I now have two that have put out tiny leaves. The green ones are not Mrs Ludwig and neither are the two on the right front row. The stem is Janet Brown which fell off so I saw a dormant bud and am trying to get a new plant out of it. canes are easily water rooted or stuck in soil and watered lightly. Paula, the fact you are dyslexic has nothing to do with your intelligence, which is fine. My DH had it undiagnosed for years, yet managed to be a rocket scientist among other things. Determined people can overcome many problems. I wondered where you were, missing for so long. Don't desert me now, we have to hold down the southeastern corner of the country, you know. If I can do something to assist, let me know. I have several multiples, although my approach is to get them from different sources. Like Fortunei Hyacinthina....different nurseries, and they look totally different too. And I got Sagae x2 from Naylor, and one arrived having 2 separate eyes, the other had one. I put them all in the same pot anyway, and they are getting to be really nice. I also have 2 Lemon Limes. Two Golden Tiaras...or is it Grand Tiaras....or two of both? Oh yeah. I have 8 plantaginea, some from the same nursery....like 3 from Solberg, 2 from Green Mt, 1 Mama from Plant Delights, 2 from Seawright which had foliar nems but seems cured this year. And then who keeps track of the ones I got as a 2nd when I was afraid the first would die? Like Stained Glass, Brother Stefan, hypoleuca, Invincible .....they are not the same age though, so not good for your experimenting. Glad to see you back posting. Your plants are looking great. Hi all, I really like what I'm reading about Angel Red poms, especially being early and soft seeded. Do you know any way I can get my hands on one of those? I'm not aware of any nurseries in Australia that sell them nor any online US ones that post to Australia. I'll very much appreciate any help with this. Thanks

We had 4 "dwarf" alberta spruces around our gazebo that were there (and 6' tall) when we moved in 11 yrs ago. Last year they were about 10ft tall and were rapidly losing needles and getting brown from the bottom up. I think they had spruce mites. Anyway, in Feb we dug them all up and I can't wait to see how the hostas I had planted in between them do this year now that they will get so much more light and space. I have a Paul's Glory that I think will return to its former glory, so I am looking forward to that, as well as adding some new additions and divisions to fill in. Found space, oh joy!!
