You can call any of your local utility companies to get them to locate their underground lines, or you can call 811 to get all of the possible utilities located. It's a free service. If they are very old and rusty, then have them replaced. It's far easier when the plumbers and other contractors are already there working. Back in 1950 a lot of the lines used were galvanized steel and they probably don't meet the building codes we have now. Better safe than sorry when it comes to natural gas. Back on topic - I'm working right now with the gas department in Lanett. The pecan crop here looks good this year. I haven't picked up any yet, but some of the guys have. In the next week or two I'll be up in Athens, and I know several trees there to check out. One of these days, though, I'd like to work in Limestone County during Spring. I see so much around the neighborhoods that blooms in Spring that it ought to be beautiful there that time of year. I guess for now I'll have to be satisfied with looking at those great Fall colors.

Casey: I bought WREN'S SONG last spring, no blooms that I recall but this year it is definitely making up for it. Lots of scapes and buds. My pictures aren't the best since the buds look to have gotten thrips several weeks ago, I sprayed with Neem and they look to be somewhat improving. Kathy: I thought perhaps your temps being so much warmer than ours that perhaps it had more of the lavender hues. I've seen pics like yours on the internet and that is what I was expecting. Either color works for me :-). Christine: I started indoors in April 2010. I first had them on a heat mat and once they sprouted, I put them under lights. I hardened them off and transplanted the seedlings in late May 2010. They grew to about 1 1/2 feet but they did not bloom. They wintered over just fine and this spring they grew another 2 feet and bloomed. The seeds are so tiny. I'm going to try getting some more from these plants to start indoors next spring again. To my surprise...AGAIN, the other clump of bee balm I planted in another bed in 2010 is just starting to open and a few of the blooms look to be red. Could I be that lucky? LOL. Julia

Well, it visited us for a few days, now it's back to raining, but at least it's not raining all day. Just the outer bands from Alberto. Oh well, life goes on.

Never seen a white one, but they are easy enough to swap out. Even easier if they were curb mounts.
