I've grown P. obovata alba (single, white flowers) for four or five years. Don't recall it as being all that expensive so maybe you should try another source. (I don't much like paying more than $15. for a plant when I'm not sure it will survive) Not a very strong grower but it has stuck with me and flowers every year - blooms don't last long. Nice foliage too. I don't think it would like deep shade - dappled is more like it. I've seen it in someone else's garden - it was not doing all that well.

Hello fellow gardeners, I just joined up on this site and am so enjoying all your discusions. I live in Edmonton now after purchasing the house I gew up in from my father. I have two peonies here that are at least 62 years old and desperately need dividing. I have no idea what their names are but the white one looks like Festiva Maxima and it's anyones guess on the red one. Both are very healthy and bloom profusely. Late bloomers. Anyone looking for a cut can contact me. 10.00 for big root I planted 120 peonies last year, most from out of town growers including Bob at Parkland. The only ones that did not come up (8) were the ones I bought from mail order garden centers such as McFayden's. One of them being Buckeye Belle which I replaced this year from Parkland. I am just starting my garden here but have put in lots of perennials such as daylillies, asiatics, irises.......anything that blooms!I can't say I have tons of experience but I love to talk shop. I try to keep everyone organized and catalogued Must keep up with my namesake. I welcome your responses. In the meantime, I hope all are enjoying this beautiful fall we are experiencing. Meyer, I assume the name is as follows. Paeonia S. = Paeonia Suffucticosa (The species of of the Japanese and Chinese tree peonies) Moutan Japanese or Chinese word for Tree peony I think the name of the cultivar is Light of Kim. However I have a database of Chinese Tree peony Names and it is not in the list. I also have a database of Japanese Tree peony names that is not very complete, it is not there either. I also searched Carsten's Website and did not find it. Does the label have the Japanese or Chinese name?
