Wow...nice color!

Here, we have a yellow cactus, found more in southern
Alberta.

I am jealous. The cacti flowers burned up in the heat before I made time to take any pictures. I went on plenty mountain bike rides but never took my camera with me.

Are you in AZ?

It looks like Conoslea rubescens. I don't know if this particular form has a name, but there are other types with big spines or different-coloured flowers.

Thanks Larrick! I really love the Princeps too,the Eriospatha looks like it will finally start a serious upward spurt this year...not sure what the Washy is doing but if we can get some heat,watch out!(-: Thanks Chad The cactus have bloomed more than ever this year with several that had not bloomed before and some that I have only seen once-I will be getting pics of all(-: I guess if your Washy is close enough to the ground you get some nice shade (-;

You have a beautiful plant there..how big is your whole plant? I have a small start. just 3 pads. hope it someday grows enough to bloom...we don't get many "holiday" cacti.....maybe they think we have too many cactus as it is..... hahaha molly / sewnmom7

I just recently moved to Tucson. I love this heat. Trying to discover it all here. Do you have any must see suggestions?

Hey, joe,
When you get tired of the heat and want to take a trip up into the mountains I'd suggest Silver City, New Mexico. It's about 3 and a half hours east on I-10. (exit at Lordsburg) I lived there for 16 years and could give you a list of great places to hike. A lot of them off the beaten path that most people never hear about.

Saguaro Flower, Saguaro National Park 2006.

Silver City is a beautiful place. It must have been hard to move away from there.

It sure was. Especially to Minnesota.

Have you ever been to the Lower Box of the Gila River?
It's between Redrock and Virden. This was scanned from an old photo. Not the greatest quality but, you get the idea.

Beautiful, Ron! No, I haven't made it there yet, but it is on my list of places to visit next time I'm in the area.

I've been to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument though.

That is some exceptional country with some wonderful views.

In a side canyon to the one pictured above there are little 1 or 2 person cliff dwellings.

Here's a cliff dwelling from the Lower Scorpion Campground area. It is on the 'Trail To The Past'...kind of off the beaten path.

The picture is a bit blurry. It was raining. I took a picture from the inside, looking out, also.
