Lovely pics. I am looking forward to my Gaillardia blooms next year. I was lucky enough to get it as a bonus in a trade and I am waiting for my Canna's. I think the daylily is either Abba, Burgundy Express or Bela Lugosi. These are the three deep burgundy daylilies with which I am familiar and there are subtle differences in the shade of the throat, the presence or not of a rufled edge, and fragrance. Take a look online and compare.

Hey Annie, Thank you for the compliments, just got done looking are your roses and I would have to say the same! I got the carnations at Lowes I think a few years ago. I love them! They are my birthday flower and I was so excited to find them as I didn't think they would do well down here but then again those places tend to buy things that don't do well for the area. Turns out they have done wonderfully. I do remember you telling me about your daughter living in Columbia and your someday visit down here which I am still looking forward to! :O) Yes, it is too bad she doesn't live closer as I would love to help her out. Mabe when you do end up coming to visit her we can all meet up at the zoo. Then you could come down to visit Charleston. I have a membership to Magnolia Garden and Plantation and I could show you around there and have a picnic there perhaps, I love it there. Maybe you could bring your daughter too and we could have a nice time. July and August are hot and humid though so be prepared. So far it really hasn't been too bad heat wise. Thank you, Everybody! I wish I could say it REALLY looks that good, but it is selective photography, honest. Oh, well...at least I have something to SELECT from, eh? I am trying to build up my supply of coleus cuttings so I have some to trade. Will keep you all posted in that regard. Felix, that red-orange flower is Mexican sunflower (tithonia rotundiflora). It is related to the sunflower tree (tithonia grandiflora) and is a great butterfly plant. I have lots of volunteers from a bed of them I planted a couple of years ago. The one in the picture popped up in a really dumb place, but I left it there because the butterflies are on it every morning. Here's a tiger swallowtail checking it out: Marcia
