vettin, it looks like a tomato worm or horn worm. Those things get monstrous! They are hard to pick off, too. they hang on! They eat a lot in a hurry. I'm glad you spotted them. I usually drown them after my DD plays with them. Ew! Barb

Congrats, Anna! I have not seen any VFs for 2 or 3 years either, MissSherry. I finally got my P. incarnata in the ground last month, and it has really taken off, altho still relatively small - about 3'. But, wouldn't you know, now I am seeing some of my P. 'Lavendar Lady' coming up in a couple different spots around the original planting area - which is exactly where I decided to plant the incarnata. Cannot believe this turn of events. Anyway, I do hope that the incarnata will entice the VFs to return and lay eggs one day. Susan

We have a family of deer that trek through our woodland by the creek. Occasionally they come up to the house areas. I noticed momma sampling some annabelle bushes, some elderberry trees and my newly planted playcodons. the platycodons were mowed to the ground! Must be a favorite. Hostas? Untouched year after year. I didn't even know deer liked hosta until I found this forum and read all the horror stories! I must be lucky. But watch, now that I have come to appreciate my hosta, my luck will probably change! Gotta respect mother nature...

Does she have any lingering pains from the accident? Maire, I think she does. Her walk is still not what it used to be, and she doesn't do long distances. I believe the prognosis is that she'll eventually get back to normal though. Thanks, guys!!
