I have plenty of viola.... 'blackberry sorbet' mix, which is mostly purple with a little yellow in the face (occasionally a seedling will pop up with more yellow than most) and 'Helen Mount' mix which has more yellow than purple in the face. I'm interested in your peony poppy, your white love in a mist, white cornflower, and pussywillow seeds. Let me know if you are interested, and feel free to look at my other trade items. ~Rachel

Hee hee ! (sorry) You must have been like me and let them go to seed instead of snipping them off first =:) Mine hopped into the lawn two years ago, but didn't reappear the next year. I love them though (sentimental value) so I'd never have the heart to dig them up. BTW We had nice weather last week and it's going to be crappy all this week. Darnit anyway !

I want to plate up 12 portions. It will be a three small components dish, a passion fruit bavaroise, slices of caramelized mango and a cream of lime. I might need around 30 flowers. Buying the plants would be the last resort, since the colors might not be the ones I'm looking for. I'd like purple and orange/yellow petals. That's why I chose Johnny jump ups. The information on the internet is not very clear. On some sites I read that if you sow them july/august, you'll get blooms the next spring. My idea would be to sow them around that time, protecting them from harsh weather and crossing my fingers, in order to get the blooms for Christmas. But... could I?

If they were growing outside, my first though would be cold - many seedling plants (and even those more well established) will take on a purplish cast as a response to colder than preferred temps (both air and soil). NBD and can be ignored :-) Growing inside, a purple tint usually indicates insufficient phosphorus. Since these little guys are showing true leaves, you can do some dilute fertilization now. Any liquid or water soluble at half strength.
