Help me decide on entertainment unit - PB, EA, other
Comments (1)Well, I have had an EA entertainment center for almost 10 years and it still looks beautiful. Of course, this was when EA furniture was still made in the USA. Not sure if the quality is still the same. I also have several pieces of pottery barn furniture (nightstands, bookcases, bed, etc) and it all looked like junk after just a couple years. Their wood finishes are really poor quality, IMO. So I would stay away from the PB one. I was in Urban home today and they had some interesting pieces. (I've never purchased anything there so can't comment on quality- but the prices seemed low). Good luck! I feel your pain having just completed a major remodel myself. It has taken me 5 months to get to the point where I can even think about spending money on furniture!...See MoreExcuse me? HOW much is that entertainment unit?
Comments (19)jejvtr - your suggestion to wait until the space is finished before deciding on such a large piece is a good one, I think. I'm just so impatient and know that it will take quite a bit of lead time to have one made, so I was trying to coordinate everything to come together at once. I think I'll at least wait until my drywall and fireplace are done. At that time, everything should be cleaned up a bit around here and I can post pictures - I'm too embarrassed to do so right now - it's a mess around here! gardenchick - your bookcase and tv unit are lovely - I really like the contrast between the stained backboard and the black finish. Our furniture is almost identical to yours - same colors, styles, etc., so it's nice to see how nicely put together your room is. Thanks for posting pictures! snookums - thank you for the referral. I'm definitely going to head over to that website and see if there is a retailer in my area. Also, thanks (to you and all those who agreed that $52K is outrageous. I was almost afraid to post for fear of only getting responses that this was a perfectly reasonable amount of money to pay if you want quality :-) oceanna - I loved your reference to seances! I don't get that feeling from the unit and actually really like the rope detailing on this one (maybe it's just the color that gives you that vibe?) but you made me laugh!...See MoreAre entertainment unit/ media units out of style?
Comments (26)We have the PB Logan in black and love it. The quality has been just fine actually. I was a bit worried but at the time, we really had no other option. We had just bought our 55" TV (or should I say DH's 55" TV. LOL!) three weeks before Hurricane Katrina hit and bought just a console for the bottom which arrived a week before the storm hit. Thank goodness. We came back to find that we'd had about 22" of water. That piece that came a week before the storm saved the new TV! Well, we had to refurnish our whole house and I decided I wanted more storage and a bigger piece. I looked at every furniture store in New Orleans for something to house a 55" TV. Everything (at the time) was made for a 50" TV but stopped just short of the dimensions of our TV. But the PB Logan fit the bill. We love it. It's a very nice piece. It's sturdy and has yet to get a scratch or anything on it and we do rotate our TV a bit sometimes. Hope that helps a bit!...See MoreTV unit not centered on wall
Comments (9)I think I'll play around with artwork placement - try putting the artwork on the left side. I do need to get more tables and I don't have any lamps in my room! I've been thinking of bookcases too but I don't know how to make it right. I had thought of getting one of those giant expensive media centers (like from PBK) but I'm not sure if there will always be a television in the LR. I've been thinking of getting a different TV stand. What do you think of it? I know it's cheap but I think it would have a slimmer profile than what I currently have. The only thing is that the TV would be exposed. Any input would be appreciated. Astrid Here is a link that might be useful: different tv stand...See Morepalimpsest
