Any bunny folks out there?

I just got a calafornia giant bunny from free cycle. He is a true sweetie. He has not tried to kick me once in the last week. He is not afraid of anything. I am sooooooo happy with him.

I know we used to feed the mini's oatmeal with thier food once a week. Do I add this to his diet also? He is free ranging in my 1/4 acre back yard in the daytime and going to his holding pen(with his own house) at night.

Any advice will be wonderful!

they usually eat timothy hay and alfalfa pellets. don't know on the oatmeal, I would not think it would hurt him though.

Congrats on your new furbaby....I can't help with the oatmeal, but I know my daughter's "Fred" loves white bread...When she is getting the kids lunchs ready, he goes crazy...He also has to share one of the girls breakfast bars...Needless to say, Fred is very spoiled and a true joy....

I was looking at the calendar to see if it gave me ideas to decorate my stacked cake plates for May (other than Spring). Well it did give me idea for Patriotic theme perhaps. I know that's usually for July 4th, but what the heck! May is Mother's Day, then Armed Forces Day, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day. How much more patriotic can you get? Especially the Mothers, they are ones sending their sons off to war thru out history. What do you think about red, white, and blue for May decor? I was in Michaels today and they have displays now of it. Tho Spring stuff is certainly as good an idea too. I'm just staying in holiday decorating mood it seems, all because Judith introduced me to the stacked plates! Karen

Rose, I went ahead and searched the Henrico County Police crime database to help you make your decision. There have been about 12 reported crimes at the train station this year, about half of them drunk/intoxicated in public and the other half vandalism/things stolen from vehicles. Considering the amount of traffic that goes through a train depot, that's probably not too bad. And remember, your insurance would probably cover missing hubcaps. Can you pick up the train in Ashland? Much safer, IMHO. Ashland is probaly only another 10 miles outside of Richmond.

There are these things called "books"...........extremely useful things filled with all manner of writings and drawings and photographs and used to be the go-to resource for pretty much any type of information :-)) Some archaic individuals (such as myself) still find them valuable research material and maintain collections of them in what is known as a "library". LOL!! btw, if the 'modern age' referred to above just means prior to the cyber age, the introduction of new plant species from other parts of the planet hit its heyday in the 18th and early parts of the 19th century. The acquisition and growing of so-called 'exotic' plants was a very big deal those who could afford them. Unfortunately, this was how a lot of what we now consider invasive species became introduced into our gardens and from there spread to natural areas.

My temperatures are about where yours are (maybe a little colder at night) and I planted my tomatoes out in late February and peppers in mid March. I think you'd be fine planting all of them now unless you're really expecting a protracted cold spell while you're gone (and even then I think the tomatoes would be fine). Assuming everything is hardened off. If they're not hardened off, I'd just leave them as is until you get back, 4 days with someone helping you water doesn't seem like a make or break.

I'm not sure about oatmeal. I wouldn't feed that to my bunny.

I have a Netherland dwarf. He is actually the size of a regular bunny now though. He is very sweet and affectionate,but also a little scared.
I feed him the timothy hay,timothy pellets,and a cup of greens once a day~ Romaine lettuce (not iceburg) musterd greens,or collard greens,and sometimes a few baby carrots (but not too many as they make buns fat)
I havent heard of giving them oatmeal before...
