Comments (25)I basically brushed on Liquid Sandpaper (yep -- thats the name of the product) waited about 20 min-30 min or so until the original shiny finish went "cloudy" -- then went ahead and started spraying. In a WELL ventilated area (and use a mask)! LIGHT coats -- almost looks like you'll never finish ((LOL!)) but it works better! Wait about an hour or so in between coats (depends on weather or dryness etc. but thats what worked for me) -- and finally -- a couple of coats of spray-on poly. The key is to wait about 24-48 hours before using them after that final step ..... give the finish a good long time to harden up ........See MoreWhat Color Bar Stools for my Island?
Comments (32)Hi suzyq! Yes Beth has been a huge help to me. I like the gray as well. I actually like a lot of the colors. I think once the paint is on my walls and I can see if it looks more blue, green or gray I can make a better decision. The problem with the grey legs and also with wsea's suggestion is my floor is this: It looks like there is gray in it but on our pieces it looks like light wood, I do not see gray in it. I feel like gray legs and the wood inwsea's suggestion would not match but the gray top of the stool would. I thought the darker legs might look better with the floor. So many elements to match up. I could also look for black on black as some thought might look really nice. I like almost all of the colors of the stools, I just need to figure out which one would look best with the island, countertop and wall color. Thanks for all the suggestions, links and opinions, I appreciate all of them!...See MoreWhat color should I paint the center island cabinet (now navy blue)?
Comments (15)Jane's personal kitchen has a lot of Scandinavian and European influence I think, though she did throw in an antique dish cabinet that makes the area look rustic. She chose a Dornbracht tall faucet for the sink as I recall, and I saw a comment she made at Houzz afterward that made me think maybe her faucet hadn't turned out to be the best choice for her--still good, just maybe not as great as she'd hoped. I just ordered a couple of Brizo articulating faucets for my kitchen after much research and think I will be happy with them. The most memorable kitchen for me from Attic Mag's archives was the one with the working fireplace oven in the middle. It was such a simple kitchen with great functionality, and I think it was in Italy somewhere that she rented while on vacation. We really don't do kitchens like that here in the USA on any regular basis anymore now that gas and electric stoves have taken over....See MoreRelated Professionals
