My floor tiles are porcelain, set on the diagonal. They are 13 x 13 and I just love them!

My second remodeled bath has similar tiles.

We have the sheet vinyl that looks like hardwood in our downstairs bath and it is a dream to keep clean. They do have vinyl strips now...you'd have to read reviews on those though. I've heard some people say the strips seperate. We have wood-look laminate in our kitchen and every drip of water leaves a spot. Our laminate is somewhat glossy, maybe a matte finish laminate wouldn't show every little spot. It drives me crazy though.

I have porcelain tile in the kitchen and baths. I love it because it is so easy to keep clean and seems to be almost indestructible. Here is a picture of it next to the hardwood floor in the LR/DR. It is a nice transition.

I guess I should have posted a bigger picture. They are 16" square Italian porcelain tile set on the diagonal in the kitchen. DH did all the work during the kitchen remodel.

i did the same thing when we were rebuilding our house in PA. I went over and over all the flooring choices for the litchen. Tried all kinds. Hate the ceremic tile, hated the laminates and finally decided on cork. I loved it!

We have laminate (light color), in the kitchen. LOVE it. It's easy to install, and anything spilled, wipes right up.
One of our best investments.
Bathrooms have porcelain tile. It's cold.

We have ceramic tile in Kitchen, 2 baths, laundry room and entry. Larger size, neutral color, neutral grout. I like it.

We updated our kitchen and bath two years ago. For the kitchen we chose Marmoleum click tiles (linoleum over cork) and for the bath blue porcelain tiles. The bathroom tiles wear like iron. All I do is sweep and wipe down with a wet paper towel once a week. The kitchen I sweep and use SwifferWetJet every morning. I love both floors.

The kitchen and entry are ceramic tiles and the rest of the house in berber carpet. The sun porch is indoor-outdoor carpet.

The master bath still has the original hardwood, but that will be replaced with slate when we remodel the bathroom in the next year or so.

All our floors are heated by hydronic radiant heat. The slate doesn't feel real warm on your feet, but it's not cold either. I wear shoes almost all the time, and definitely when standing in the kitchen. I tried foam mats, but they were too hard to keep clean.

The thing I like best about slate floors (other than that they are beautiful and durable) is that the dirt doesn't show at all. Muddy dog paw prints and muddy DH paw prints are gone in a matter of minutes. The floor is kind of a pain to mop because of the clefting, but I need to mop only once a month or so.

I have travertine and do not recommend it. I like the pale color for our kitchen, but the travertine has little gaps in it throughout. The tile company fills the holes with cement and it looks fine when installed. BUT the tiles may have little holes in them under a too thin layer of the travertine or limestone. As we use the floor, some of those holes have opened up. I seal them with grout, but it is still a drawback.

I have plain old vinyl tile in the kitchen,would like to have porcelain someday.In the bathroom we have linoleum.When we had a sewer line break back in 2001 the insurance co,wouldn't let us put tile back in(we had had ceramic),said if we had a leak it may get under the tiles and loosen them all or something to that affect.Can't really remember the whole conversation anymore.That was a trying time for me and what a MESS it was.

I have ceramic tile in kitchen and baths..all a light neutral color. There is a golden oak wood laminate floor in the living room and bedrooms. Luther is a big ol' dribbler too and I'd rather he dribble on the ceramic tile than the wood laminate. it leaves a lot of spots.
In another house Inhad a wood look vinyl and I loved it. It was easy to clean and it always looked nice.

We have hardwood in the kitchen & tile in the baths. We're very pleased with both.

I have Amtico vinyl "wood" planks in my kitchen. There is a huge difference between cheap vinyl and Amtico. I have had cheap vinyl and it was hard to clean and got hundreds of nicks and gorges in it. Amtico is very easy to clean and after more the 4 years there is not a single nick, tear, or gorge in it.

I think it looks more like wood then laminates or sheet vinyl does and water is never a problem. Each plank has a very slight micro bevel on it which really adds to the look.

I've got TrafficMaster vinyl peel and stick tiles and I find with having 3 animals it is the best floor ever! You can't see anything on these floors until you go to sweep it. LOL They look like granite. HK used an adhesive as well. I can post a link if you would like.

Pergo laminate flooring in the kitchen and vinyl in the bathrooms. I bought tile for the baths but they still aren't installed.

I have had the Amtico vinyl wood plank flooring in the kids bathroom now for 3 years. It still looks great. So I recommend Amtico too.

Well I plan to get tile despite the downside of it's being hard. It cleans like a dream in areas of the house that have it. It's the only floor I've ever had that is truly impervious to dog drool and boots and machine shop chips. I like that fact that a damp mop with plain water has kept it looking like new for the fifteen years we've had it.

My second choice would be a really good quality sheet vinyl with sealed seams and coved. I currently have that in my kitchen. It does have to be moped more frequently and aggressively than the tile and dog drool adheres but comes off with a microfiber cloth.

We're planning to do our bathroom soon and I will be putting in small tiles. I avoided tile when the kids were young because of the hardness and slip factor. As we go from room to room redoing the floors we will put in pex tubing for hydronic radiant heat which eventually we'd like to convert the entire house to.

I have laminate wood flooring in the kitchen and cork in the main bath.....I'd recomend cork any day.Wish now that I had put it in the kitchen also.
Cork is so easy to clean,and keep clean...laminate shows every water drop.
Cork is also more comfortable to stand on...has a certain"give"to it thats easier on the legs and back.

I have stone look laminate flooring in my kitchen and dinning area. At first I didn't like it because it spotted..

But since I bought swiffer It looks great.

I didn't buy the swiffer mop...just a refill bottle. poked a hole in the top and squeezed it into a spray bottle...I just spray it on the floor and use my regular mop to do a real quick once over and it looks like new. It has been down for 5 or 6 years now and looks as good as the day we put it down...except in one spot over in the corner some one must have dropped something sharp and pointed and it made a little pointed gouge in it. I never see it and have to look for it to find it.

With these three large dogs running and sliding and skidding across it all the time you would think it would be all scratched looking but it isn't.

I admit , right now it looks dirty a lot...but I just don't have the energy to keep after those darn dogs. I sure wish there would have been a better solution to that dog problem. I can't wait for that part of all this to be over.

I have Formica oak wood laminate in the kitchen and bathrooms and love it. It looks great and cleans so easily.
