Flooring for home office - chair casters?
Comments (7)I would suspect that wood or laminate warranties would not cover that kind of repetitive wear, but I'm sure some of the people who know more about that kind of flooring could say for sure. I don't know how transferable casters are when supplying them "aftermarket" -- might be a question for a good hardware store (not one of the big-box stores) or an office-supply place. I like carpet tile -- I put it all over my house (kitchen excepted). I wanted the color and the texture and like that it will wear far better than standard residential broadloom. It's also easier to move things on it. :-) Personally, I would avoid padded carpet tile, which knocks out the Legato and Tesserae available at the big-box stores and some FLOR lines. But you can get carpet tile on-line from various sources or from some local places that handle flooring exclusively....See Moreoffice rug to protect hardwood floor?
Comments (2)Agree. Get a clear smooth one and NOT one with those dimples for grabbing carpet underneath or it will look like someone went running in golf shoes under your desk. Put your nice area rug UNDER the pad....See MoreFinally Found a Rug for my Home Office
Comments (16)Thanks, everyone! I need to clean up the shelves and put some things away that I will obviously never need again, but.... this was the room our youngest child called "school" during his middle school years between trips to Europe and Japan, California and Costa Rica. He was playing Go competitively at that time, and we loved having the freedom to travel at will. Some of his old schoolbooks are still in that office. He's a junior in college and I am still not ready to let them go. I don't consider myself a helicopter parent but there's probably some name for a person who hangs onto an old eighth grade physics book!...See MoreRolling office chair...will it damage hardwood floors?
Comments (6)I rolled my office chair across HW floors for years and had no damage. You need to keep the floor clean and free of particles that will abrade the finish. I never got any special wheels but that sounds like a good idea. I didn't care for the look of a plastic mat on my floor nor the experience of rolling off the side of it which is what I do now. Have to have the mat because the study in my new old house has carpet (which I will get rid of one of these days)....See Moreannzgw
