I so thank you and I know when a person enters and it looks beautiful the day seems to get started on the right foot. It's a tough bussiness for health care workers and I just try to stay upbeat even with plantings. Spotty was what I got from a Morris arboretum consultant, but not my style too. My boss did add he get lots of compliments so I know well enough as I'm not up there on the road often. I might spend a total of one day a year trying to keep it up. I do like the honks and when I know somebody and they stop I'm even more happy. I can't believe you liked the daylilies even though they where special ones. I'm slowly taking them out. Wanted to tie in with what Medford did down the road and I'm not likeing it. I have enjoyed that rusty potato vine and the blue salvia this year.

jnfr, there are some vacant homes here where the yard is neglected, and the place is covered with redstem fillaree. The yards look spectacular as one drives by. Its sort of like hay medows full of dandylions, they look great. However, if its your yard, they don't seem all that great. This year I've decided to just enjoy the dandylions in my yard, as does my daughter who likes to blow the seeds.

Here is what I think I have identified from all contributions so far: 1. Bitter dock 2. Sharp leaved Aster (whorled wood aster) 3. Garlic Mustard - take it away 4. Jack in the Pulpit (we have many, many!) 5. Hayscented fern 6. Buckthorn (not sure it is a choke cherry) 7. Honeysuckle 8. Mayflower (Canada) 9. Arrow wood Viburnum False Solomon Seal Gray Dogwood Arrow wood Viburnum (same as #9 but still very low to ground) Trillium False Solomon Seal Trillium or Jack in the Pulpit Shagbark Hickory sapling Suggestions - Angelica, Avens, Toothwort, Dutchmans Breeches - doesn't really look like any of those Possibilities - Gold thread (? three leaves and this is four) or Partridge Berry or Wintergreen or Pyrola - plant is very, very low to the ground Sensitive Fern The picture is of a fern unfolding. Hard to see. I'll wait to see what it becomes. Trillium or oak seedlings Another type of Fern Another Fern - I'll use the Fern website that was provided. Bulbet Fern Columbine or Meadow Rue ?? Jack in the Pulpit Skunk cabbage?? Queen Anne's lace ?? Squash or pumpkin or watermelon(makes sense since the deer ate all the watermelon plants I had outside the fence) Hnoeysuckle or Fetterbush? Violets

This could relate though to an artical about Starlings being the "weed of the air" they are very pretty when caught in the sun, but I still dont want to have them over run the place. In fact from the title I though that was what this post would be about.
