Just a thought on watering...my spider plants looked really sick when I watered them with water from the tap. Our water is not well water, it's through the county and thus has a lot of stuff added to it that bothered the plants. When I let the water sit for a day or two before using it to water I had no leaf burn or yellowing. I don't know if that'll solve your problem or not but it's worth a shot. Also spider plants like bright, but indirect, sunlight.
