They're all in the ground now, and we'll see what happens. :) I wasn't sure that I could expect growth next year, since they already used some energy making the sprouts this year. You don't expect the sprouts in the picture to grow foliage, do you? Hmm... that would let them get some cholorophyll going.

GGG, are you talking about the white spiraea of spring, or the pink blooming summer Spiraea bumalda? I just transplanted two Spiraea bumalda and had not thought of planting daffodils with them! (Remind me that I'm not allowed tulips.) My mother always sprinkled Shirley poppies over her tulip beds in fall. I like California poppies, too. I have nicotiana large enough to hide bulb foliage now, petunias, sweet william (dianthus barbatus). The NY Botanical Garden plants daffodils and daylilies together so that the row of emerging daylilies is large enough to hide the dying daffodil foliage behind it. I like to plant lycoris bulbs with daylilies or Persian Shield so that their foliage hides the dying lycoris foliage that's leaving about now too. Nell
