so the large beige-ish tile is going on the floor and that patterned tile is on the shower wall? can you post a pic of the room? does that large tile come in a 2x2 or 3x3 size? it should. use that. u said it looks busy, but I don't see how. it's a solid look tile. same premise they've done here. used a smaller tile in the same make as the floor introducing any other type of mosaic will look busier. if your large floor tile is a matte finish, it could be cut and used on the shower floor. maybe have it cut in thinner, rectangular strips. they've done it here in the shower

IMO hunter green tile was done 20 yrs ago so why that choice ?I like larger format tile for shower walls to keep grout to a min. In fact I like 12 x24 tile on both the bathroom floor and the shower walls to keep things simple and easily cleaned . Do you have to have a tub since your inspirtation photo has none . I think the shower will still be too smal.

And in the downstairs bathroom. Right now carpet but will remove carpet and put hardware in the rooms downstairs where I have carpet. Just on fence about my home office (sunroom?) tile or hardwood.

Interesting thoughts. I liked the idea of large format tile for a shower because there are fewer grout lines to worry about, especially with well water. But I'm pretty sure I can ease the worry by using epoxy grout. I'm not sure I'll be able to use large format tile for the floor yet as I'm not sure how flat it is until I demo the subfloor. I have such a hard time with Houzz because most pictures are of million dollar homes and they don't translate to my humble bathroom with a tub, not a walk in shower. And when there is something I like, I can't find any tile like it at a store. Our style I would say is traditional/modern. We have wood floors, white paneled cabinets (Ikea Bodbyn) with a white marble backsplash, Acacia butcher block island top, stone on the outside of the house as well as in the living room on the fireplace wall. Just to give an idea. We first ordered a turquoise shower tile (3x8) that didn't look anything like the picture on home depot, they may have shipped the wrong one. With that I figured it would make it easy by doing porcelain white marble look floor. I don't want to do any actual natural stone in the bathroom for installation and maintenance reasons. I regret the marble backsplash in the kitchen already. We do like the dark floor with lighter walls (i.e. Green Hills pictured above) but not sure if that will be too dark for our bathroom.
