I did buy a lot of bulbs, Tulips, Daffs and Dutch Iris. Plus it was quite lots of work getting them all planted. Plus they did add up but I was just in the mood to have lots of bulbs blooming this spring. I already know I will order more for this fall. As for the way they are along the walkway, I guess each person has their own vision of what whould look best. I wanted them like this, each variety separate on the two sides, not mixed together. And I wanted them in that long wave, not separated into drifts. So I made it this way on purpose.

Thanks everyone. I want things to really green up here as I just love spring. And all that warm weather we had really made things pop early. But now it has turned much cooler again, more normal for this time of year. No matter, I am still ready for spring! Kay, I really needed to weed the iris and did not want to wait until buds developed and there was a chance of breaking them off when getting in the beds to weed. Better to do it now. But I STILL have not put out the preen in there. mantis- I bought those YORK MINISTER bulbs from Brent and Beckies. I had thought from their picture that the cups would be more orange myself. But they do get deeper in color as the flowers get older. So they open as a yellow daff and slowely get more orange in the cups. I do like them as they are a pretty daff.

Most years I add lots of daylilies and that is not so this year as I am out of room for them. So I didn't buy even one new daylily over the winter for spring planting. Plus the past two years I have put in so many Tall Bearded Iris that I don't have room for more there either so didn't buy those either. I am actually very glad as I can focus more on the cottage garden effect here. I did order four more clematis for this spring from the same place as I went overboard buying from last season. Then of couse I am anxiously waiting to see if my Lupines come up this spring but it is still simply too early. Those ones in the picture are on the other side of the house in a very sheltered location near the house so they are my only perennials to start growing already this spring. I don't know what I will do if those Lupines don't come up as I was simply totally bowled over by them last year. Probably just go back to that nursery later and buy more. I know I will not have total sucess as the original two lupines I bought and planted in the back garden died by the end of summer before fall. But I planted so many bulbs last fall and am so looking forward to seeing them all bloom. I am already thinking about what bulbs I will plant for this fall. Thanks for thinking of me and my garden. I can't wait until it all greens up.

I snuck out while the rain stopped for afew minutes but no pictures as it started big splats of raindrops again. But I did get a chance to see that the first of my early tulips out in front is just about ready to open. It's going to be a deep purple color. I got the early tulips mixed colors for that section. Then the daffs out along the other side of the walkway are deffinately coming. Afew half open and one totally open. I was really looking at them carefully. Much larger flowers than the Maria daffs on the other side. These are York Minister. Taller and deeper colored than the more common yellow daffs I have around the garden. I don't see the blush of orange in the trumpet the picture in the Brent and Beckies catalog shows but maybe it comes as the flower ages. Anyway, they are quite pretty and just look wonderful en mass like that. The Maria daffs on the other side certainly look great en mass on their side of the walkway. Truely, I am not sure if these are just a later blooming type or it is just that side is more shady than the other side so that makes them grow slower. I noticed that the daffs around the yard open first in the more sunny spots and then the others followed. Out front on the belgium block mini terraces were I have a scheepers mix planted there are finially lots of new ones open. As you probably know from my early pictures, they started with the common yellow colored early daffs. But now there are white with yellow trumpets and big flowered yellows mixed in. It really looks great.
