Hiya Kansas, Your best bet for both the mower and the tiller is a BCS or Grillo walk-behind tractor. They're quite a bit pricier than the standard MTD & AYP stuff, but they're a joy to use and very durable. The only way a person can wreck one is through abuse or neglect. The feature a fully gear driven transmission and cone clutch. Grillo's clutch doesn't freeze up like the BCS clutch does if you don't leave it disengaged while stored. There are NO belts or chains in the BCS or Grillo machine. You can get several types of mowers - finish, rough-cut rotary, flail, sickle, drum, etc. A community garden would benefit greatly from a flail mower vs. any other style. The tiller attachments are far superior to any other rear-tine tiller out there. Both machines run the tines at 290 RPM - twice as fast as any other tiller. BCS makes two main tillers - one adjustable to 20 or 26 inches and one 26 or 30 inches. Grillo makes a tiller even more adjustable than that - 18 inches to 27 inches in one inch increments. Grillo's tiller also features bolo-style tines and a spiral pattern that helps the tiller to run smoother through the soil. A friend of mine has a Stihl tiller, but I dunno which one. I built a 8x12 shed in MA and I put in on 4x4x16 and 2x4x16 blocks. If your not putting in anything heavy, no need for a concrete floor. Use pressure treated 3/4 inch tongue and groove plywood over 2x6 for the floor on top of 4x4x16 concrete blocks. Put the blocks on 3/4 crushed gravel. I removed the grass and dug down about 6 inches. I filled the holes with 3/4 gravel, leveled the blocks and made sure they were all the same height and in line with each other. If you are a little off, you can use regular asphalt shingles as shims. If you use multiple blocks and shims, make sure you put a layer construction adhesive between each block/shim. I spread the rest of the gravel under the shed to aide drainage.

Because of the word 'shed' in your subject line, I'm guessing you are talking about lawn and garden tools. Personally, I have an 8ft. X 16ft. shed in my back yard that I built from scratch back in the 70's. Today there are many, many suppliers of sheds, including Lowes and Home Depot. There are wooden and vinyl sheds that come in kits and you have to assemble them. Around here the Menonites also sell wooden sheds that they build and deliver to your property and set them up. All sheds that I have ever seen have a means of locking them up. Or it is an easy task to attach a hasp and a padlock. I hope this info helps you out. Just remember, no matter how big a shed you get, it will NEVER be big enough.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure my neighbor who does mostly grading type stuff but bills himself as a general contractor has actually built many things. He actually suggested the looking into a kit he would put together for me. He's very reasonable so I was hoping I could make that work. (I cant do a slab unfortunately, easement issues) Johndeere - good info. I suspect Menards etc. have what your talking about and I'm finding anything else very hard to find. So anyone else checking in if you know of a quality kit, chime in please. I too had a Heartland Shed in Michigan built about 8 years ago and loved it. Very sturdy. But then their website went off line and now I think they're stuff is sort of limited and they have some deal with Home Depot. Did you get yours recently? I'd like to know how recently. I did a zip code search on their website and nothing came up for Omaha. Mary
