My calculator only goes 8 wide. I wonder whether the retirement calculators online would do it?

With all of the money that's being printed ...

... pretty soon the resultant inflation will mean that a million ...

... will buy a lot less than now.

But ...

... if we require all of those "young" guys to retire ...

... what to do about the current retirees who, having had their pensions disappear ...

... and the assets that they'd put together having shrunk so much, like a shirt that's become too small to fit the dog as winter warmer ...

... now need to go out to work to put food on the table (and aren't about to buy a new car)??

Good wishes for wise use of income (while you have it) and assets (while you have them).

Have you ever wondered how it can be that we, who are so (comaparably) prosperous, walk the streets of the city with nary a smile ...

... while many folks in parts of the world where they have next to nothing have a smile on their face and a vivacious, joyous spirit?

Well you could go to Mexico - walk across the boarder and become an illegal then if O's plan to give them amnesty goes thru you might qualify. I understand he made a promise to the the Hispanic Caucus

I'm not a resident either....Canadian. But this sure makes sense to me. Our auto plants are closing......numerous auto-supply plants have closed. If the government would remove the taxes off new cars, that would help enormously. Those thinking of getting a new car in a few months, would do it now, if they could save 13%.

And I'm not taking it as a "joke", but didn't want to start an argument. I honestly think it would work, and be cheaper!
For people close to retirement age, or even for those that aren't but would like to be, it would be perfect.

... buy a small car (would they require us to buy a domestic make?)...

... buy some Canadian oil stocks ...

... some Chinese stocks ...

... some Indian stocks ...

... and live comfortably.

While I like the concept, I'm not sure we can afford that $40 trillion dollars.

#1 I'm wondering about the impact on the 401Ks, health/life and other insurance how many people would think a mil is quite as much as we think. Given that people get paid $50/hr to put lugnuts on a car, plus benefits, some might not give up the job for $1 million. Me? I'd be depositing the check in a heartbeat! ;)

A question on #2: If we buy a new American car, are we required to buy a car built in the US? Like a Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima or Honda Civic? Or are we able to buy a car built in Canada or Mexico like a Chev Impala or Ford Fusion? And if we can buy Canadian or Mexican built will it be a million Canadian dollars or Pesos that we're paid?

#3 would not quite have the impact it would appear on the surface. Many people in that age range already have a house and many of them have paid off their mortgage or have very little to pay off. So, unless you required the purchase of another house the impact would be questionable. Having 40 million empty houses sitting around wouldn't be the greatest either since crime and vandalism would go up. Granted, with a million you could afford some security systems which would help the economy and the transportation between them would increase fuel consumption which to some is good and some is bad.
