Hard time keeping Stainless steel Appliances clean?
Comments (135)Most of my appliances are GE, and I clean them with white vinegar and polish with olive oil, and they look great. But I have a Samsung refrigerator and it seemed like nothing would work, then I read an old post about Magic Erasers. The eraser worked great, and I just dried with paper towels and they look better than new. I tried the Magic Eraser on a small area on my GE dishwasher but it did not work well and made it looked worse. I cleaned it again with vinegar and oil and looks better again....See MoreHow hard is it to keep unglazed porcelain tile clean?
Comments (2)It will be VERY easy to clean because nothing [like a dried on drop of red wine] will stain it or stick to it. Since all the soil sits right on the surface, you very rarely need more than hot water to lift the dirt. Also, since unglazed is low gloss it doesn't show particles the way a glossy tile does. Colors with some variation, light and dark areas in each piece, tend to hide dirt better. But I made a pattern of several different colors of unglazed in my current kitchen, and I wouldn't say the near white shows dirt any worse than the med. beige or darker rust and green shades. But even with narrow grout, I'd choose as dark a color as you think you can live with. The grout in my entry and laundry is a dark charcoal, is unsealed, and never needs special attention....See MoreGunstock White Oak Hard to Keep Clean?
Comments (2)We have Gunstock hardwood in the living room and two of our bedrooms. We love it. It is so rich looking. I do not find it hard to clean nor do I think it shows dirt or dust any more that other hardwood. We are a multi dog family and no one takes shoes off....See MoreHow clean (or not) does your gc keep the site?
Comments (16)Our crew's general rule is the last person to leave is responsible for seeing to whatever tidying is appropriate for the stage the project is in. If in framing, all waste is separated from useful scraps, the former is thrown into the waste pile outside (unless there is a dumpster) the scraps are sorted and stacked neatly. Material piles are straightened and covered. Floors swept. Food waste is not tolerated. Wind-blown trash also must be picked up daily. All cleaning and site safety issues have to be enforced from the top down, because every tradesman likes to shortcut these steps, so they can get home (or to the next job) a few minutes sooner. If the house is nearly finished, or a remodel in an existing house, literally days can be spent in protecting surfaces and cleaning as we go, sometimes the shop vac never gets a chance to cool off.
