Here is my original GWD post: I ordered seven plants, mostly tropical trees, in mid March. They were not shipped until mid May. The reason given for the delay was that the Dwarf Ylang Ylang was "slow to come out of dormancy." The plants were shipped loosely in a box packed with, no kidding, four pieces of wadded up newspaper. The plants were not rooted in at all. Most appeared to have been bare-root or in smaller containers, then were placed in the larger container filled with peat just prior to shipping. The 3" Carambola had two withered leaves which soon dropped and it did not recover. The Dwarf Ylang Ylang arrived with 4 leaves but within a day dropped three. I do have one emerging leaf, I am hopeful that it will recover. I received an email notice that the plants were shipped. I replied that the Carambola arrived "virtually leafless" and I got no reply. The Jaboticaba I received is a nice little tree, it exceeded expectations. But overall the quality of the plants and the packaging/shipping were substandard. As noted above, the jaboticaba really isn't a jaboticaba. The Dw. Ylang Ylang didn't recover. I received no compensation. Shop elsewhere.

It is probably not what you were hoping for but the CRFG website has spaces where people sell or give their extra fruit away. Though not very tropical, I do have tons of fruit if you want, do you like hot peppers? Good luck, -Ethan

I think your reasons are good. I often worry about what would happen if god forbid something happened to my husband. Would bm reappear and try to take the kids so she would have a live in sitter for her 3 little kids? And would she do it for the money that would be involved if my hubby died? She has shown to be unstable and would never provide a stable happy home for the kids. Plus I am sure she would want to cut me out completely which would hurt them, me, and my son. I think before you talk to sd about it you and hubby need to speak to a lawyer and see what is involved and what your chances are of getting custody. And I think it is good that you would still give bm visitation if she wanted it after the adoption.

Hi Beth I grew Gold Struck twice (or tried to) but it cankered out on me, once from Edmunds and once from Regans. Neither time did it survive more than a few weeks. I like the golden color, but I've been much more impressed with the truly golden color of Good as Gold. The others you mention look interesting and new to me (particularly Candy Cane Cocktail), so if nothing else you're being enabling. How did the rest of your Regan's roses work out this year? I remember you commenting that your Big Momma cankered out on you too, and I was disappointed in mine since that one was own root. I had particularly unfortunate canker from my Regans roses this year, though they have been perfectly lovely at replacing them and perhaps looking for a different grower to supply their plants. When the roses sit around before they can be sent to cold zones like mine, there's more time for mischief to happen to the canes, though this apparently started at the point of the growers. Of course you need more roses - how else will you replace the ones that didn't make the septic tank move? By Cactus Joe's definition, you are a rose nut (over 1000 roses), and I'm an apprentice rose nut at just short of 900. Never say "enough". Cynthia
