Thanks for the explanation of your zoom, Claire. More information for camera shopping is always appreciated. We have finally had some warmer weather and so I went for a long walk yesterday down by the stream, through our far corn field (not visible from the house) and then through the next farm south which was an ornamental tree & sod farm at one point and is now returning to its roots as a food farm. I had been wondering where "our turkeys" had wandered off to and found evidence of them in several places: Crossing the stream From Jan 31, 2014 and then up to check out the manure piles in the field From Jan 31, 2014 but the real attraction seems to have been the ornamental crabs in the tree fields. There were lots of tracks in this area, but almost none around the other rows of trees. From Jan 31, 2014 Earlier in the week I had taken a quick ski around the corn field by the house and found tracks from fox and coyote as well as this little guy, perhaps a mouse based on the size and tail drag, where his track and the fox coincided. Jasdip, oh my gosh, we had the best time in Buenos Aires. I traveled there with a gal who had already been there four times, so knew her way around. The city is broken up into some pretty distinct areas. I'm happy you are enjoying the street scenes. The shopping was great. I bought two pairs of boots that I wear all the time plus all kinds of other goodies. Ever seen a Yerba Mate cup? I bought two of those. Mate is the national hot beverage in Argentina and you carry your own personal mate cup wherever you go. You can get just plain hot water on the streets to refresh your mate. The cups are usually made out of gourds and decorated on the outside with paint, metal, jewels, you name it. The insides are left natural. You use a metal straw with one end that looks like a sieve. It's designed to keep the loose yerba mate leaves in the cup while you drink. This is a cup that belongs to a gal who had us over for dinner one night. Good for you Jodi!! I thought it would be fun as well, working there. The little ones are just so funny! Did you notice how they seem to like the camera? I read on one of the comments, that the camera may not be on longer, because it's supposed to mimic the Antarctic, and soon it would be 12 hours of dark, so we wouldn't be able to see. Whether that's true or not, who knows.

Isn't nature wonderful! I also watch Phoebe the hummingbird in Irvine A where a big bird destroyed the nest and the two babies are gone/ the worst is feared! Mom is rebuilding another nest - http://phoebeallens.com/... Extreme sadness and now rebirth!

Yes, penguins are quite noisy but the noise is far more tolerable than the guano. Or so I was told.

When I went to Antarctica, I almost didn't get off the ship to walk with the penguins after hearing about how vile penguin droppings are. So happy I changed my mind though. Nothing quite like being surrounded by chinstrap and gentoo penguins who have the right of way and no fear. So fun to watch them go about their business.

That one laying down has been there for days! Is it nesting? Or is it just when I happen to watch? Anyone else notice that?

I thought he might have been dead, breenthumb, but he moved his fin and head yesterday.

This morning when I brought the post up to the top, there were 2 men in there with them. To the right of the ice and snow there is sand, where the men and some of the penguins were. I would hope that if this penguin were injured they would have seen it by now.

Jasdip...thanks so much for letting us know that it's only up for two months. I wish it were longer. Maybe they will move the cam to another place there that we can still watch...hope so!

Thanks for sharing. It reminds me of my trip to the ANtarctic. I have a couple of cute videos of penguins I took while I was there. If I can figure out how to imbed a video here I will share them with you.

I've seen workers in the pens with them periodically, but haven't seen any feeding.

I love how the little ones stand in front of the camera, or run back and forth right in front, as if they know....

The way they constantly preen themselves, I wonder if they have fleas or mites.

It appears there is a petition to keep the Penguin cam going for more than just two months.
