Thanks for all the comments! I like spending time out there, especially in the afternoons when it gets cooler. laura, I would like to be able to grow a lot of the tropical palms and plants. I've tried Crotons, and although they fly through the winter, they usually succumb to the dry heat, getting crispy, dry leaves. Southern AZ is a great place for succulents and cacti. I took a 75 mile hike through the Buenos Aires National Park between Tucson and the Mexican border last year and the native cacti are simply amazing to look at. It's truly exciting to walk through the "cactus forests" there.

Taken scions from a stockplant which is growing at a nursery is a complete differend thing, because they are growing in a healthy and fertilized controled situation. Most scions of original witches' brooms are poor growing and are thin like a match wood. For this reason I would take the tip shoot as well, because like I mentioned before, it contains 70% of all the energy and for this reason it produces a thicker scion. The 4th pic is showing us the best tip shoot scion of the whole branch which will develop in the most perfect nursery stockplant for furthur propagation matters. My way of thinking could be strange for you but the difference is that I think like a professional nurserymen and you think like a hobbiest... ;0)

Thanks everyone! Julie - For me this daylily is pastel peach, not pink (but a lot of daylilies that are supposed to be pink are peach for me.) Lrae - I enjoyed your photos of SRF too. I like that it flowers so early and several people told me that it reliably reblooms and increases quickly, so I'm very happy Mrs. Crichton gave it to me! I had three blooms on it today and was able to get a better photo than yesterday: Juliet

janen, first you need to have your pictures loaded into a web hosting site (like Photobucket). Once they are loaded, that site will give you a URL for each picture. Either choose the one that starts with "img src" (just paste it into the message) or create your own img src tag. In GW, when you preview your message, you should be able to see the picture.
