Looking through some old pics...

These were actually taken with my old Olympus point and shoot camera this past fall at the gardens at a local university. Came across them this afternoon while organizing my files, thought I'd share them.

An inviting recluse of shady trees and trickle of cool water on a warm day. Very nice. Your second one reminds me, as I sit inside waiting for an ice storm to go and come (second one is on the way) that we yearn for what we don't have. By the dog days of next summer, I'll be sweatily looking forward to an icy blast to arrive - but, not today.

Thanks for reminding me of what I can look forward to. I feel a little warmer already.

I like both of them...I like your focal B&W, nicely done...your son(?) looks about the same age as mine...And running water, stream, brook triggers serenity...Looked like a lovely day, certainly the surroundings are!

What Olympus was it? I received an SP510 for xmas...Still getting use to, but like it much...

Wow it must take you weeks or longer to plant all of your non-hardy stuff! I second that agave, it looks massive. It is strange how some trachys will occcasionally put out 360 degree leaves like that. I have one that did for a while, and now it's back to 180 or less. Speaking of elephant ears coming back, neither of my big thai giants made it, but apparently they both produced small babies at their roots, and now I have four from the original two. The larger ones rotted.

Guess I wasn't paying attention back in January!! Wish I hadn't miss this, but I'm glad it got bumped. Beautiful! I just posted my refresh too....nice to see another kitchen with a good starting point!! The soapstone gives it such a warm feel. I know you're loving it!

Need help germinating some old bulbs w/ pic

They are tulips. and they look extremely dehydrated. I don't hold out much hope for them. All you can do is plant them in moist medium or in the garden and hope for the best. The cold period is neither here nor there because that is all about getting flowers from healthy bulbs. Your goal is to see if they are even still alive. I'm afraid I very much doubt it. Bulbs are not seeds, so they don't germinate. They are the underground storage bodies of certain plants and in nature they should never dry out like seeds. Once they do they die.
