Agree with above and I'd get rid of the bookcase. It's too low for the space. Have tall bookcases built in to the ceiling and also a library ladder to reach the ones on top. I think you can use 2 sofas and perhaps 2 chairs as well, if they're the right ones. That sofa MUST be pulled away from that wall - looks totally wrong there and blocks the kitchen entrance.

Here is the furniture moved and I certainly can do that . I had it like that for a while and I don’t know how much the family was digging it. The loveseat people are hoping for something to put their feet on and the sofa people would like an ottoman. This arrangement still didn’t seem to work for them to share. It also does make the living room look smaller which is not a bad thing, just something I noticed How about one of those large upholstered ottomans that do double duty? This way both can put their feet up. The important thing with seating is making it easy for everyone to be able to converse without having to shout across the room. Once everything is in, with the excellent help from grover for extras, I think you'll all be much more comfortable with the arrangement.

Wanted to wish every one a Merry Christmas..this is out my kitchen window. I am presently restoring my great grandfathers kitchen table (100+ yrs old) that I came across in my late father’s shed. Then we’ll work on a new re decor of another room, still loving my living room. Hanging ivy’s are thriving well in their spots and received a 10x12 photo taken of a purple thistle flower bordered in navy blue taken near The Royal Palm Visitors Center Everglades National Park signed by photographer. @KW PNW Z8 Thank you! The color of the cushions is what made me buy this set. I’ll put up a pic once I have more of the pieces assembled. To give a general idea - the area is concrete and is located on my side yard. One end of the 12’x12’ space leads to a large side gate to get to the front of the house. The other end leads to a long concreted path with a long row of privets that I’m growing to make a hedge for privacy. Will post a pic ASAP. p.s. I‘m on the west coast. After I assembled the first two pieces, I was so unsure and felt I made the wrong purchase decision and wasted so much money. Posting here was the best decision and extremely helpful! ! Now I feel more positive and am excited (and motivated) to open the other boxes and start assembling! This is such a wonderful forum! Will post an updated pic ASAP.
