There are pull out trash cabinets to the right of each sink. We already own the 36" fridge. We changed quite a few things from the architect's drawings. We swapped the mudroom fridge with the closet. We got rid of the sink/ice maker, in the dining room, we still have the wine fridge. But keeping the trash might be a good idea. I might put that back in. The island is all one single level. There are no upper cabinets on the range wall, just open shelves. The reason for possibly moving the range is that we have an extra 6" we don't kow what to do with. There's a 12" lazy susan in the corner. Then 36" large drawers for pots and pans. Then 12" pullout for oils/spices. We don't know what to do with the extra 6". 36" is the maximum for our cabinet company, so we can't make that any bigger. We don't want to change the lazy susan to 18" (besides we don't have an extra 6" on the other side). We can change the 12" oil/spice pullout to 18", but I feel that will be too bulky. I'm thinking of doing two 9" pullouts instead. One for oils and aseparate one for spices. Would that work? Would it look wierd ot have 2 9" pullouts next to each other? I'm hoping to sketches from the kitchen cabinet guy soon and I'll post them. He's just waiting for me to decide on this issue.

Hollysprings - my sink is staying put. So the spot where you see it in the layout is exactly where it is now. I don't want a peninsula. What you don't see in this picture, is that to the right of the sink after that run of cabinets, is a bump out like a bay window with a 6' glass door to a screened in porch. We also have a 42"x72" kitchen table there. So the last thing I want to do is walk around a peninsula to get into the kitchen area. I don't want seating there either, it would bump with the seating at the kitchen table. Also, we currently dont have windows on that wall. so 2 21" windows will be an improvement over what natural light we currrently get. i like the idea of the range between 2 windows with a hood above. I do appreciate the idea that I don't need to center it exactly though. I guess an inch or 2 won't matter. Thanks everyone! I think the overall consensus is that 2" won't matter, right? In which case I will leave as is and maybe consider a 41" sink aisle.

Thank you all! The electrician put up one of the pendants and once the stone was in, the overhang from it reduced the effect of the island being slightly off center. You're right, after looking at it from different angles, it wasn't noticeable. Even looking straight on it was hard to tell that the pendants were slightly off. And the further away one went, the less noticeable. Plus, DH was worried about banging into the pendants if we moved them too far right so that constrained the amount we could move them further, making it not practical or worth the effort to move them at this point. So I feel much better about leaving them. The KD said since we had so many appliances on the island she had felt we needed the extra aisle space and that makes sense. I see your point about pendants competing with the hood and part of my dilemma but we do love them both. and since it is a pretty big space we felt like we wanted pendants in the middle. Admittedly, it does mean the hood gets a bit of a backseat (but not for side views). We're changing the fixture for the EIK to be a simple round white drum. Hopefully, that way, it won't be trying to compete with the shiny metal pendants/hood. I wanted to post a pic but my laptop isn't recognizing my camera phone any more so I can't upload. I don't think you will notice after a while. Mine is off by about 1" on the left, because the *&^&%$ range hood is a full inch less wide than the rangetop (I swear I bought a 48" range hood, not 47"!). But then again, we are DIY so I wasn't about to make my poor DH uninstall then reinstall all of the lower cabinets after it took him a full day in the first place; if we were paying someone for it, it might be a different story. If you choose to keep it, just make sure you don't do a stacked tile BS - you would probably definitely notice it then.
