Popcorn type ceiling paint on poured concrete wall?
Comments (1)Suggest to him that he do a test panel for feel and durability. Chances are that the popcorn will come off on his hand as he rubs the dry coating and convince him to do something else. He could patch the worst of the uneven areas and use a stucco texture paint or a sand finish paint but that will be a little more work....See MorePrep help for ceilings if popcorn is removed
Comments (3)Typically the ceiling gets a skim coat of drywall compound, some texturing, then primed with drywall primer BEFORE the final coat of paint goes on. Comments (7)I want to do my living/dining room ceilings but am afraid of asbestos. Seems like a lot of people just go ahead and scrape it - do you wear a mask? I looked at the usual little masks and they all say "Do NOT use if asbestos is present". The right kind to use has those two thingies on the sides and costs $40. I got an estimate from a contractor and he wanted a whopping $600 and he wasn't going to use any asbestos precautions anyway. Am I being too cautious??...See MorePopcorn ceiling help needed

If you do plan to remove it at some point, I've heard that you shouldn't paint it. Painting it makes it much harder to remove. I'm sure someone here will chime in with some actual experience with it....See Morestraitlover
