Would you buy this chandelier for bathroom . . and other question
Comments (8)Hello, We are just going through the issue of a chandelier over a tub. Different electricians had different opinions; not even the contractor knew the "right" answer. My advice is to call your inspector; they know which version of the code they are using and they are the best source for an answer. Long story short, I can have a chandelier that hangs no more than 15 inches from the ceiling. What this means for me is that I will go with a flush mount crystal "chandelier". It won't be the beautiful hanging chandelier over the freestanding bathtub that is so often seen in magazines that I truly wanted, but I will get the look and still be within code for our area. If I hadn't been able to install a chandelier over the tub I would have installed a damp rated can, and then make a capiz shell hanging to surround the light so it looked like a lit chandelier but actually wasn't. Corbett also carries capiz shell chandeliers but they tend to be a bit pricey. If $$ is no object give them a look... Good luck...and call the inspector so you know what will pass the bar in your area!...See Morehelp with a bathroom update idea
Comments (3)I'm dying to see your pictures. I am going through a bathroom update also. Sorry I can't help you with the pictures. I was able to post a few about a year ago and from then on following the same instructions it just came up typing, so I switched to using links to Webshots. I am so happy to get rid of the "Hollywood" light strips. I wasn't thrilled with anything at the big box stores and found tons of stuff to choose from on eBay. I am waiting for the one I ordered to come any day now. You would be surprised at all the different finishes you will see besides chrome, brass & brushed nickel. Easy to find something that will harmonize with the fixtures you are keeping. I plan on shopping eBay for the vanity faucet also. We are moving away from the polished brass (except around the shower enclosure) and hubby already spray painted all the fixtures (towel bars, tp holder, heating vents, light switches) in an oil rubbed bronze. They turned out very well. Your paint color sounds like a shade of green. Co-incidentally I have chosen a muted green also. One GWer suggested that it is a bad color for a bathroom because it is bad for the complexion. I had to laugh, though, the wallpaper hubby tore down was in shades of green and I have had this bathroom for over 15 years and never noticed anything wrong with my complexion! We'll have to share some photos.....because of special orders on my countertop and also waiting on a shade I don't expect to post photos for another two weeks or so. Good luck on your reno and check out eBay! Here is a link that might be useful: spray painted hardware...See MoreCan I hang framed photo in bathroom? Other artwork?
Comments (0)My newly redone bathroom has a blank wall and I'm low on wall space in my house. I'd love to move a framed photo into the bathroom but I'm worried about humidity ruining it. Before the remodel I had hung a framed photo in the bathroom and it got wrinkly, but the fan really didn't work then. Now that I have a fan that works (removes humidity), is it safe to put a photo in the bathroom? If not, what kind of artwork can I put on the walls instead? (painting, fabric wall hanging,ect)...See MoreStyling around Beige/almond Bathroom Decor
Comments (11)Congratulations on your new home! I love this article for inspiration ... beautiful beige bathrooms. I hope it might help with some ideas/inspiration: https://www.bhg.com/bathroom/color-schemes/neutrals/beige-bathrooms/ I would not put 4000 LEDs in a bathroom. I would concentrate on paint, new fixtures if possible (such as antique brass), paint vanity a warm white, accessories after you change the paint color. For your window, I’d get a roller blind temporarily for privacy, then revisit something dressier later, after you get other things changed. You could do a Roman shade, for example— ....See MoreUser
