I have a Cuisinart toaster/convection oven and love it, although I haven't used the convection option very much.

By far and away the most raves are for Breville. They have a new, smaller one, which I want to see in person, and may come home with me if it's small enough. :)

I've had the large size Breville for a year or so.

I use it as my second oven many times a week. Toasts bread/bagels/english muffins for breakfast. I heat convenience foods for quick kid lunches when they're home or to reheat left-overs. I've baked bread, cookies, and side dishes. Very happy!

I have the Breville SmartOven. Love it!!! Worth every penny. I hardly ever use my big oven anymore.

I bought it from Hammacher Schlemmer as they have a lifetime warranty/guarantee.

The only Breville Smart oven I see in my area is this one.
It's a Compact Smart oven, but doesn't mention convection. It's more money than I want to spend, too.

Another vote for the Breville Smart Oven. I use it 90% of the time but it's just the HG and me with an occasional meal for the grands. I had to replace it after 4 years but would gladly replace it again when necessary. As discussed before-BB&B was very generous with their 20% coupon so I got it for $200 even though the coupon excludes Breville products.

It's nice not to have another appliance (toaster) on the counter top.

I also have the Breville Smart Oven (not the toaster oven) and I love it. Wish it were made with Stainless Steel, though, esp. considering the price. and I also got mine at BB&B using the coupon, as did a friend of mine.

Jasdip, drive down to the US and get one. That is the smaller oven at the US price for the larger one! I would not spend $250 for a toaster oven. Can you order one from a US online store???

Also a Breville Smart Oven owner here -- We use it every day. Love it! The light has dimmed on the controls -- I have a small pen light that sits next to it --oh well -- it cooks to perfection. I use it from toast in the morning to main course and / or sides for dinner.

I hate my expensive Dacor oven & only use it if I absolutely have to for holiday meals - large turkeys, hams. I use the Breville and will replace it immediately when it stops. You will not be disappointed.

Grrr, I don't want to buy from the states. The dollar difference, shipping and duty taxes will kill me.

I'll keep looking (for another brand) one that will fit my budget more.

But...Breville is Australian and should be at a good price in Canada, right?

Amazon Canada has them for more reasonable street prices.

Williams-Sonoma has the full line, but I can't figure out if they also sell in Canada.

Sears Canada has them, too, but at list price.

Bed, Bath & Beyond Canada also has a couple of models at better prices. Do you have the incessant coupons there? Maybe your friends have some to spare if you don't have any yourself?

Surely there will be some good Cyber Monday deals if there isn't a shop right by you that has a good one for a good price.

I just looked at the reviews, the majority were good, but a common concern with the negative ones is that it doesn't heat up as quick, and the LED lights burn out. Breville Canada doesn't offer the same warranty as Breville U.S.

I might wait a bit, and see if I can find out more about it, or if I can find it cheaper yet. $229 on Amazon, $329 at a couple of our stores. The $229 is pricey, for me, for a countertop oven. I have to give this some more thought.

How do you clean it, after roasting? Wouldn't it smoke a lot, after roasting, and then using it for toast or bread?

I agree. It IS expensive for a "toaster" oven.

You'll find that most that have the convection feature are pretty pricey. If you want something that toasts and reheats a serving or two, there are a lot of alternatives.

I don't think they are made to last, unfortunately. Some bit the dust in a year and some are going strong after five, or more, years.

Even with the caveats, I think it's a bargain for what I would have paid for a double oven. Mine has pulled it's weight, and then some. If I wasn't cooking for five it would likely be our main oven. I'm even taking it with me tomorrow to help with the Thanksgiving feast at my friends' house. I love its portability and the option of cooking in the garage, or on the porch, when it's so hot here.

I bought a Breville Toaster Over this past summer. It is the size one down from the biggest and I am most pleased with it. I got it because I wanted to occasionally bake a little something for myself but didn't want to heat the big one for just one small pan. It heats up fast, bakes faster than the recipe calls for, and even makes a good piece of toast. I got mine at Sur la Table.

I have a toaster for toasting and a micro for convenience food/reheating. Looked at, and did buy a toaster/convection (not no $200). Didn't like the extra item on the counter, nor any benefit over using the oven. One ideas was broiling steaks, but as Jas mentioned (with no replies?), it looked like a real pain to clean after such cooking. Took it back with no regrets. A silly complaint on a different post, and from several friends, was that a toaster oven took to long to make toast!

A lot faster, for one. I'd be eating a bubbling hot slice of leftover pizza before your oven would even be warm. But I guess that wouldn't matter to someone who thinks that excruciatingly slow toast is a silly complaint!

My take on the Breville - it's a great small second oven. I use it far more than my range oven. The slow toasting bothers me as does what I perceive to be sub-par evenness of toasting. But when I posted pictures on another thread it was met with comments that made me realize my expectations were too high, despite the very high price. The inside doesn't clean well, but there's no light in there so I don't care. :) The only attention I give it is to empty the crumbs periodically or remove something that melted or fell though the rack causing smoking.

We have a simple little Farberware countertop oven, and we love it.

You see, we live in a studio loft apartment with a tiny partial kitchen, so any cooking we do must be by electric appliance. (There is no stove hookup.)

Our little kitchen consists of a small double sink, a nook for a refrigerator, and a bit of countertop space with cabinets underneath. Our most important appliance is a restaurant style Bunn dual burner coffeemaker.

Our second most used appliance is the Farberware oven, with 2 Nu-Wave induction burners running a close third. Fourth on the list is a Nu-Wave induction/convection oven, with a George Foreman grill placing fifth on the list, which is used quite a bit. And bringing up the rear are a couple of crockpots in varying sizes.

Amazingly, we are able to prepare any dish in this makeshift kitchen of ours. We even put up pickles and apple butter, and do a lot of canning in the fall using the appliances listed.

We simply switch them out, plug in the needed item, and away we go!

I would recommend looking at various brands of convection ovens to get the size you need. Ours is rather small and probably wouldn't fit a large turkey or huge ham, but it works for our needs.

I have the Cuisinart. At the time Breville didn't have a small convection/toaster oven. Not great for making toast, browns unevenly. Easy to clean after I put a silicon mat down on the bottom, although the door is hinged in a way that captures crumbs and requires a toothpick to get really clean (but it promptly gets dirty again, LOL).

Heats up fast as an oven. Seems to cook @ too high heat; I have to reduce temp at least 25 degrees or food burns. Did not find the convection bake to evenly brown, and it cooked food even faster requiring a reduction in oven temp by 35 degrees.

If I were buying again I'd get the Breville.

Someone has a new Bravetti Pro Convection Rotisserie oven for $75 for sale on Kijiji. I know nothing about this model.

I have the Cuisinart linked below. I got from Craigslist, brand new for $75, and love it. It gets used every day, and baking in it with the convection feature is great.

Delonghi looks like it might be available in Canada but not sure if the same models as mine.
I linked my model which is probably 15+ years old below but Google delonghi Canada to see what is available.
Also, if you live near the U.S. border, there are places that you can mail order and pick up stateside. You do need to claim it when you cross but my friends say it is very easy.
I shipped my new ski boots to the Soo last year. I was in Canada and my boot broke. I had my new boots in 1 day. I had to pay the bridge fee but in this case, no duty as I live in the US and was not leaving the boots in Canada
