"Forget about the VOC's, whatever amount in ANY water based paint is not going to harm anything." Nothing could be further from the truth. Depending on the state you live in, a latex paint can have a VOC level of 150 grams per liter (gpl) before tinting. Colorant can add up to another 100 gpl for a deep color. In a gallon of paint (about 3.9 liters) that equates to up to 1 kilogram or 2.2 pounds of VOC emissions that are released. In a typical room that uses two gallons, that's over 4 pounds of liquid that will turn into VOC emissions. On the other hand, a paint like Natura that remains 0 in any color releases virtually nothing. Bottom line, latex does not equate to low emissions.

Good day, many people perfer ben moore over sherwin however both r good qualiry paints however sherwin doesn't have an eggshell and their satin looks like a semi gloss I personally like durons paints which is now owned by sherwin. As for the tapeing I personally would say freehand is the best but if you want fresh crisp lines find some frog tape I haven't tried it but it has something on the edges that resists the latex paint but whatever tape you use as a rule of thumb dry brush the edge, this helps ensure there is no seapage under the tape, and pull the tape as you go usualy once I get to a corner I pull the tape off yes you will have to re tape but this way you don't pull the paint off. I would do this process 2 times before rolling only because when you dry brush it doesn't cover well and then you do your 3rd cut in and roll the 2nd coat

There is no universal definition for sheens that all companies use, so it's unlikely the sheen will be the same. The real question is if you need a high sheen for the kitchen anyway. Old school thinking was that kitchens and baths always had to have a high sheen. With the advent of higher performance matte and eggshell finishes from many paint companies, this is no longer the case. I painted my kitchen and bathroom with Aura matte 4 years ago, both still look like the day I painted them in spite of heavy use for both. Never met anyone that wants their walls shiny - no need to go there unless you happen to be the exception to the rule.

I've been using Aura since it came out. I am not a professional painter but repaint my rooms frequently. I do love Aura in any room but bathrooms. I have used it in 2 different houses, and painted in 4 different bathrooms in 2007, 2008, 2012. Each of the bathrooms has proper ventilation and the exhaust fan is always used when showering. All of the walls were properly cleaned before painting. In every bathroom where it was used, the paint has streaks. Some of these can be "washed" off but re-appear soon again. Do a search on Aura paints and you will see this is a wide-spread problem in bathroom use. I will continue to use it in other rooms but no more bathrooms!
