In terms of terms, since a couple people have asked: With a full extension drawer, the end of the drawer will line up [or come very close to lining up] with the frame of the cab. With Scherrs, you have your choice between full extension and 7/8ths extension. With self close, when you give a fully open drawer a little bump, it will do the rest by itself. They actually speed up a bit in the last couple of inches. When you first get them, they seem like 'self slam' drawers... With soft close, they slow down in the last couple of inches and just ease into place. The only time you'll notice it at all is when you are looking for some thing in the drawer below, and it certainly isn't a big deal even then, and even for the monumentally impatient [like me].

Everyone may be right about soft close going only on full-extension, but if they're not, I'd sure try to change rather than worry about the dealings with your KD. This will affect you long after he/she is out of the picture. There would be no 'trick,' just have to uninstall the slides they give you and reinstall all new ones. If you have line-bored holes inside the cabinet, the cabinet side of the set screws into those and you have to match the drawer height to that location and screw the other half of the set into the drawer. At least the location would probably be the same as the ones you removed, so the exact measuring necessary to get your drawer fronts lined up just right should already be done. It's likely possible, but pretty tedious, and not a job you'll relish doing if you can avoid it by making a phone call. It can be difficult to reach into the back of the cabinet and get the right angle and proper force to do a nice job...especially with smaller cabinets. This would all be in addition to paying for drawer slides twice! We'll be hoping you got full-extension with your soft-close and this whole conversation is unnecessary! :-)

I'd have them come take another look at it. My bottom drawer is an LG and it pulls out easily even when full. There is a bit of a catch to break the seal, but that is needed to keep the cold air in and shouldn't strain your back. Is that what is bothering you -- in which case the bottom drawer style may not be the easiest for you -- byut you might be able to do something like put a broom handle behind the drawer handle so you don't have to bend and pull and cause more strain on your back. Find out if there is something like a toekick release for things like trash pullouts that could be used on your freezer drawer. If the glide itself is hard, I think you've still got a problem with your glides or the drawer itself. Surely you tried a floor display and didn't have this problem, Have them try again to fix it or replace it. Before I opened the thread, I was thinking "too much weight in the drawer" but if this is brand new, that seems less likely. If you are packing in blocks of frozen solids, I guess it is possible, but not likely for typical freezer use. Hope you get it resolved.
