I've been looking at and pricing 36 inch gas cooktops. For reasons of price and fit, I'm going with the Bosch 500 series, but I was seriously considering the GE Monogram and lusting over it just this very afternoon....nice looking, sturdy, and it was the only one with simmer settings on all of the burners, including the higherst-BTU burner (most, including the Bosch, only have it on one burner). The Dacor and the DCS also looked quite interesting; the latter also has multiple simmer burners.

I have a Kitchenaid 36" installed October of '08. It has 5 burners and I am happy with the way it looks and functions. it is easy to clean also.

If you have the space, go with the 36". You won't regret it. I had an OLD white stove with a middle griddle. It was HUGE. When I moved I only had the 30". Couldn't wait to get the 36" after having the larger stove from the other house. Hoping you are going with gas, or induction. I absolutely cannot deal with the regular electric. I'm ready to trade my hybrid in for a total induction, and it's only a year old. Cleanup is so much easier.

We have a 36" KA Architect II gas cooktop that we really love. There's nothing bad about it at all - no complaints. I love the high-btu burner and the fact that the burners are sealed - very easy to clean. Of course, I'm comparing it with the electric range in our "before" kitchen, which was no fun at all.

I have the GE Monogram 36". I cook all day every day and I've been very pleased since we got it a year ago. I use the large center burner for my large pots and skillets. I recommend it without reservations.

I have the 36" KA Arch II as well and it also has a large center burner for bigger pots. I hear alot of great stuff about the GE mono as well, but I got mine on ebay for $599!! Woot!!

I have a Bosch 500 series, 36" gas cooktop that we put in 2 months ago. So far I really like it and have no complaints. Large center power boil is great. There is only one "simmer" burner designated, but the only burner that does not simmer low enough is the large center burner. It is easy to clean and the grates and knobs all feel sturdy. FWIW, I had looked at the monogram and it was too deep for my space, I would have lost my drawers.

I second the Monogram. Have had it over a year now and really like it.

I have that cooktop and LOVE it!! It is also very easy to clean. It is fairly low profile and I didn't realize this until it was too late, but I could have even put a drawer directly under it instead of a false panel because it doesn't hang down very far under the granite. A cut-out at the back of the drawer is necessary because of the gas line, but that's not a big deal. I am going to get my cabinet guy to make me another drawer.

we have the 36 in. six burner from thermador. i LOVE it. even if you don't use all six burners, it's great to have all the space. it also has an xta low feature that i love. it basically turned the gas on and off automatically. i think the lowest is on for 8 seconds off for 52 seconds. it's great for keeping items warm once they are cooked, or delicate items......maybe they all have this though...i don't know??????

Originally intended to get the 5 burner 36" cooktop from Dacor. Then I realised the Bertazzoni 6 burner 36" cooktop was not only better, but significantly less expensive.
I love it.

I have the 36" Wolf cooktop. It was totally worth the extra 6" of counterspace I lose from the old 30". I find myself making more complicated dinners rather than the 1 pan stirfry!

It looks like you've already made you decision, but I just wanted to chime in with another nod to the 36 inch 6 Burner Bertazzoni.

Mine was just installed last week and I am thrilled!! I often use a grill that takes up prime real estate on my cooktop, so it's nice to have lots of additional burners. More importantly, it was the only one that would fit into our existing spaces, as our previous cooktop was only 2.5 inches tall, and most (including the GE Monogram) were over 3 inches and would not fit. The Berta is only 1.5 inches tall and would allow for a drawer or a tight-fitting built in oven (which is what we have).

The fact that the price is right doesn't hurt either ;-)
