About a year ago I posted on GW (and maybe elsewhere - can't recall) looking for a chicken-keeping-basics video. I weas looking for one that included 'the far end of the cycle', the killing and butchering of hens. I'd been asked by some city-based friends about the whole chicken-keeping idea. So I still do wonder if, in this age of VHS & DVD, whether that kind of video is available from some source or another. The chicks and gathering-eggs parts are important, but obviously so are the other aspects of management (whether for laying hens or meat birds). For learning things, books can be good, vids can often be better. Joel

Hi Everyone- My daughter, Olivia, who successfully campaigned our city to change the zoning law to allow chickens last summer, needs your help. She entered a national book review contest in the USA. The finalists were chosen by the sponsoring library, but the actual winner is chosen by PUBLIC VOTE. If she wins, she gets $1000 in books for her library and $500 in books for herself. Since her school library just lost a massive amount of funding, she would really like to help them out. There have been 3 other categotories and all of the winners have organized huge voting campaigns on internet bulletin boards and the like, so this is the only chance she has.
