Pairing 27-inch deep lower cupboards and 12-inch uppers

Do I want to make the lower cabinet an extra 3 inches deep front to back? I am in a position to change the depth of my lower cupboards in my plans for one end of my G-shaped kitchen, the top of the G.

Cabinet man says that the reach to the upper cabinet knob will be longer.

A comment on another posting discussed 3-inch bumpouts and said that short people have trouble operating window behind sink. Neighbor at 5'2" tells me that she is so short that her current 24 inch deep countertop is just as deep as she can bear for plugging and unplugging into outlet at upper part of her undercounter space.

I cannot increase depth of upper cabinets to 15 inches. They will hold everyday dishes and glassware.

Will this improve the kitchen because I can store more in lower cabinet drawers and put more stuff on countertop during heavy use periods? or just make me miserable day to day when I'm 80? I am 5-foot 6, DH is taller.
